The portions were generous for the price, and the service was fast and efficient even though it was busy. Everything felt authentic and homemade.
If you’re in the Miami Lakes area and craving real Cuban food, this is definitely the spot. I’ll definitely be back for another pan con lechón and juice!
First and last time at this EPDLJ.
Service was very impersonal. Left a tip TWICE (both counters, food and breakfast) but it was not appreciated, not even acknowledged.
Today I ordered a Yuka. The paper bag was soaked in grease a glass full. So bad that I took it back and said keep it. Worst 2.68 I ever waisted in the local establishments. They need better quality control…
The food here is actually great, which makes this situation even more disappointing. Unfortunately, poor customer service overshadows the quality of the food. Management really needs to address this issue, as turning customers away early is a sure way to lose both clients and revenue.
My aggravation for the day…. I wanted to also be able to drink some right away and was not heading immediately home, so I asked for a cup, with a lid and a straw, not multiples, just for me right now. They gave me so much grief to accommodate this request. I told them I’m not eating there and need a way to drink some of the juice, on the run, without spilling it in the vehicle. My friend/colleague and I are chauffeurs and were in a company limousine which must remain pristine. Honestly I was ready to give the juice back and get a refund. To top things off, when I paid, the lady asked if I were going to tip and honestly even if I don’t dine in a place, I often give at least a dollar tip to pick up food, but I just bought very expensive juice, they fought me to not provide a single cup with lid and straw, plus I’m not eating food from there nor of course dining in. The question was so inappropriate, are you kidding?? I explained I’m not dining there, tips are for dining in and I’m only getting the juice. I probably would have tipped a dollar if they were more accommodating with the cup situation. Aggravating me is very bothersome to my nervous system. I have a health condition that I really cannot deal with difficult people much and staff at every single PDLJ has always been like this. Friendly accommodating customer service is not their thing. The cost of those supplies should just be wrapped into the price of the half gallon juice to an even 13 dollars so this ridiculous situation is averted. Asking about a tip with such entitlement after already being aggravating was crazy.
I’d probably be fired if I ever asked for a tip from a limousine client. Some people tip and some do not, but it is highly inappropriate to bring it up at all or especially to ask for one directly. It’s also the off season so we have to very carefully budget our finances to squeak through to when season begins again. Do not assume everyone driving Navigators are wealthy and can throw money around everywhere they go. We chauffeurs can be extra generous during season when our clients are very generous to us, but we earn every cent, thus we are less likely to tip a dollar for a juice in the situation described here. In the off season especially tips must be earned for proper friendly customer service. During season we might be considering tipping more because our clients were exceptionally generous with us. Example, I’m considering giving 3 dollars to grab a juice, but go through this type experience and leave it at 1 dollar or no tip, just due to this type poor customer service.
I really used to love PDLJ when the food was fantastic, affordable, and ample, even with the mediocre service. I don’t want to see them fail, but that’s exactly what’s going to happen if they do not get their act together. With the prices everywhere skyrocketing, only the best most accommodating customer service will keep these restaurants afloat.
I just bought some shaker bottles so I will try to remember to take 1 with me next time I can afford some very expensive juice here.
The food is going to have to recover quality somehow because I can’t eat here. Last time I bought queso frito it was awful like cardboard. I only occasionally buy that from a Fritanga these days.
Praying for them to get their act together and make it through this extremely volatile financial season.
Everyone is talking about how the quality has tanked, on everything except the juice.
