Looking for a place to eat breakfast with my family before a long ride home we saw the diner on google and from the pictures had that vibe so we decided to stop. Upon walking in it was definitely not what the pictures showed. We seated our self and waited for the waitress. She was pleasant but seemed a tad overwhelmed even thought it was not busy at all. The seating were not booths but folding tables basically and chairs. The decor was semi ok. The drinks are self serve which was odd but no big deal. The food was ok.

I want to do 4 stars but from my personal experience, 3 is the best I can give. There’s a nice small mom and pop feel to this place. It’s got a cute 50’s vibe with the seats and the paintings all over the walls.
The service was lacking and maybe even somewhat confusing. There are little phones at each booth that you use to order but the room is so small you can hear yourself and the person standing at the register in the middle of the room and it makes it very difficult to even understand them and concentrate on what you’re saying yourself. I ordered a chicken cordon Bleu and somehow they heard a blue cheese burger. So I didn’t even get what I ordered.
They don’t make it very clear that drinks are self serve and the guy behind the counter was pretty rude when we asked about it. They really need to make it more clear how their “system” works and not be so rude when someone asks for them to explain how we get our drinks and other condiments. Also, maybe it was just where we were sitting, but for most of the meal all we could smell were wet dirty dishes. It almost smelled like a mop bucket with chemicals in it.
We’ll probably be back to give them another chance because the food wasn’t horrible, but they need to fix a lot of issues.

Fast Service, fun atmosphere! Food is spot on as far as specific add extra this or take off that… Prices are between $4 and $12 plate and plenty to choose from including breakfast anytime! Great selection of drinks, fountain, bottled, coffee, or tea. Booth seating. Plenty of dipping sauces, ranch fry sauce, ketchup. Great oldies tunes playing on the speakers and matches the interior decor of the restaurant.
The downer for us was the place didn’t seem super clean… Such as a bit dusty in a few areas especially around the phones where you place your order. The floors a bit sticky. And the tables and booths weren’t exactly new but weren’t overly used and could use a deep cleaning. That’s the only reason for a 4 star review. Great place to dine! Fun for groups, and right on main Street. Plenty of parking, Jeff and crew are fantastic hosts and chefs!

We should have walked back out. The restaurant is filthy. It’s a self serve diner. There was a woman, a boy and the cook working, but only the cook did anything. We walked in right after another couple. The received their meal right away. Our meals waited until after the woman working and another man were served their meals AND they finished eating. I checked on when our food would be ready, the cook pointed to hashbrowns cooking. We waited another 15 min after that. Although it tasted good, the food was overdone on one side. As we were leaving, I saw 4 tables piled high with dishes, unswept floors, the grill had grease soaked towels underneath, the restroom was filthy. DON’T GO, it’s not good enough food to take the risk.

Good Food. Good People. We’ve been coming here for years and NEVER had any issues. The instructions to order are CLEAR and on the front of the menus. Old school decor. I’m always greeted with a happy, friendly smile. These guys and gals work their butts off. Food and vibr is ALWAYS amazing here. The BLT and cheese fries are my favorites, the ribeye steak is my fiancée and the kids always like their options! And Breakfast the country fried steak and that pepper gravy is AMAZING!!!!!

So cute!!! We ordered our meals from a red phone located on the table. The phone kept cutting in and out but the girl was finally able to get the order. When the food was ready a buzzer near our phone went off. We picked up our meal and drinks and paid the bill.
The restaurant is filled with cute posters and a mural. Very 50s.
Watch out though … a picture of Elvis is in the women’s bathroom and it feels like he watches every move you make! 😉
The women’s bathroom could use a deep cleaning.

I had read reviews and wanted a diner for our bike ride on Sunday. Remember the training table? Close to that with the phone to call in your order.
Rules to know.
1. No one is coming to your table
2. The menus are at the table
3. Use the phone to place your order
4. No one is going to tell you that you just go serve yourself for drinks while you wait for your order to be placed.
5. Grab your condiments by the drinks.
So I am wondering about the reviews for fantastic service? It is all serve your self.
Debbie ordered the teriyaki burger and I ordered the blue cheese burger. They were okay but not to die for. The fries were cooked well hot and crispy. I like em that way but I belive they are pretty packed and not fresh cut.
Perhaps I was expecting too much from the 5 star reviews. I could eat here again just not a destination diner for me.

I’ve visited the Hot Rod Diner twice now. The food was prepared quickly and was VERY tasty each time. The grilled quesadilla was a nice appetizer. The chicken fried steak was tender and full of flavor with yummy white gravy on top. The baked potatoes were fully cooked and so good we ate the skin too. The scones were small but perfectly cooked. The honey butter was just the right amount for the scone. The blackened chicken pasta was perfectly cooked and the garlic toast helped sop up the leftover Alfredo sauce. The ribeye steak barely needed a knife to cut. At $15 it was the most expensive item on the menu, but worth every penny. The chef’s salad was a meal in itself with a nice blend of meats, cheeses and boiled egg.
Their prices were very reasonable, especially with the senior discount. The service and food preparation were very fast! We dined in and were out in less than an hour, even on a busy night. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Hot Rod Diner and will be back soon.

This is not your 5 star dining location. This is your comfort food, comfort feel restaurant. Prices are not crazy, so this is a good place if your on a budget. So you look like a pro when u go in: you seat yourself, you order from the red phone, you get your own utensils, drink, toppings, etc. only issue I saw was it’s got quite a bit of flies buzzing around.

The name caught my eye as I was exploring around the south side of Utah lake. Small Town Diners always seem to have to best food… Hot Rod Diner does not disappoint! The mushroom swiss burger was seriously fantastic! I’ll stop here again for sure next time I’m in this neck of the woods.
