Phinista Cafe is a vibrant French‑Vietnamese café nestled in Boston’s Fenway neighborhood, and it’s become a standout spot for Vietnamese coffee, creative drinks, and café fare. The café blends traditional phin‑style coffee with contemporary twists, and many locals praise it for having some of the best Vietnamese coffee in the city.

The atmosphere feels bright and welcoming, with plenty of color and personality that sets it apart from your average coffee shop. Service is generally friendly and attentive, though it can get a bit busy during peak hours, so seating might be sparse if you arrive later in the day.

Phinista’s drink menu is a highlight, featuring traditional Vietnamese phin coffee alongside inventive lattes, like the ube and pandan matcha lattes. We tried the matcha, and it was pretty good, with a decent matcha flavor that came through, but not as strong as we would’ve hoped.

On the food side, the café serves a mix of house‑made crepes, banh mi sandwiches, pastries, and light brunch items. The banh mi was good, but pretty standard and similar to other locations we’ve had.

Overall, Phinista Cafe delivers a fun, flavorful café experience with standout Vietnamese coffee and plenty of options beyond the usual espresso drink, making it a great stop whether you’re in the mood for a brunch bite or a unique coffee break.

Stopped by Phinista and got a Cà Phê Trứng with extra foam on top and they added it for free which I really appreciated. The coffee was rich and creamy, just like how it should be. I also got an Iced Saigonese Coffee and it was super smooth and flavorful. I love the vibe there. Will def come back whenever I’m back in Boston.

Came here for brunch ~noon. We ordered two banh mis to go because the place was packed, but seating magically opened up. I like that they ask you if you want your coffee less sweet, because classic Vietnamese coffee + condensed milk can be pretty sugary. Matchas are hand-whisked to order!

Banh mis were good—crispy, soft baguettes with the right amount of pickled daikon + cucumbers. My lemongrass steak was a bit tough; my jaw was tired by the time I finished the whole thing.

Love the vibe (free books & board games), indoor & outdoor seating (beware of wasps that also love the sandwiches), and a good assortment of baked goods. Bought a pistachio muffin on my way out because they looked so perfect will get the strawb matcha latte or ube latte next time

Their Saigon banh mi was exactly what I needed after a hangover. Sooo delicious. I will say it was a very long wait but the barista + staff were attentive and apologetic. Their drinks were flavorful and unique. Gluten free pastries also available!

Small place but super cute. Seemed busy but only one person working the front so there was a small wait. Ube matcha was good but could’ve been sweeter. Strawberry matcha had good sweetness just hard to drink with how big the chunks were. Ube bun was pretty good, exactly what you want but a filling would take it to the next level. Overall good experience, not a bad place to stop if you’re in the area and good food around it too.

Cozy little Cafe with friendly staff. I had the saigon banh mi breakfast sandwich and tried their Strawberry matcha latte—both wete delicious. The outdoor seating area was nice and peaceful as the nearby road wasn’t too busy.

There’s also group games and books inside the cafe, although the seating area can be a bit tight. Regardless, it’s a nice place to try while in Fenway.

We were excited to try this place after seeing everyone else’s photos/reviews, but we ended up being very disappointed. We had spent $45 on 3 lattes, 2 buns, and 1 banh mi. The iced saigonese was pretty good. The matcha latte was good too; good quality matcha, just wasn’t sweetened when we asked for it to be sweetened. The iced phin ube didn’t have any ube flavor in it. It just tasted like a regular cà phê sữa đá. We ordered the lemongrass beef banh mi and the baguette was not toasted and it was hard to chew. The biggest disappointment was the matcha and ube buns we ordered. We asked for both to be warmed with the custard filling. The buns were not warmed up and actually tasted stale. They cut the buns open like a bagel and spread the custard in like it was butter. We really wanted to like this place, but the quality was terrible.

Vietnamese iced coffee was tasty. Creamy and smooth condensed milk with a great layer of coffee peaking through.

I really enjoyed visiting this cafe. The Phin drip coffee black is an experience in itself, but balancing it with the sweetness of the Is This Heaven? crepe was truly transcendent and shouldn’t be missed.

The couple workers were very nice and polite, and made sure everything was great. The vibe if the place is warm and invites one to lounge for a bit and sip. I’ll be back to explore some of the bahn mi options.

Always on the lookout for a comfortable cafe near my routine stops. Happy to find this one today! The drinks looked fun/colorful, (tried the ube matcha latte); the banh mi was massive and delicious.

Cheerful atmosphere; the guy making my sandwich was intermittently singing with the music. Staff communicating well together and with customers. Food/drinks came out quickly, even during the lunch rush.

Will be a regular stop when I’m in the area!
