So happy we found this spot! The staff is super attentive and friendly. We tried pretty much everything on the menu and were not disappointed! Loved the catfish and the ribs and the brisket.. and all the sides…true hidden gem. Oh and free mimosas today! what more can you ask for!?!

I will first point out the owners are great. The atmosphere and smell of BBQ was very inviting and the owners where immensely appreciative of our visiting their establishment. It’s hard to not experience a connection with them.
As for the ordering of food we purchased chicken sandwich, macaroni, corn bread, BBQ Beans, catfish nuggets, and smoke sausage link.
Having had eaten at many BBQ smokehouse establishments in Florida and Baltimore, MD my expectations are probably higher than the norm; therefore, my critique may come off insensitive to some; nevertheless, I’m empathetic to the entire experience.
Corn bread was very dry and crumbled into pieces when trying to break a piece off. I’m use to the southern style of cornbread with corn in it, lol. In any event, the overall texture and experience was a let down.
Chicken Sandwich was not bad. Would have liked to have a solid piece of chicken grilled but the chopped-and-pulled was still pleasing.
Macaroni tasted similar to the blue box of Craft Deluxe you’d purchase at the grocery store. Just wasn’t appealing at all and that’s hard to say when talking about Mac N Cheese.
The linked sausage was okay but nothing to write home about. I’d recommend Portillo’s for Italian sausage! And there are some smokehouse competitors in the area such as: 4 Rivers Smokehouse, Willie Jewell’s Old School Bar-B-Q, Whaley’s Blazin’ BBQ, Whiskey Willy’s, The Liberty Smokehouse, and if you want to hit a decent BBQ on the beach try Smoqehouse off Bradenton Beach.

It is convenient for us but I was not wowed. Brisket was part fatty part dry but the flavor and smoke was good. No burnt ends were available . Rib meat also tasted good although the rub was thick in places and pretty salty (and I like salt). Both mild and hot bbq sauces were pretty good. Beans and coleslaw were meh. Mac & cheese was good but $3 extra. People were nice and food came out reasonably fast although it wasn’t busy.

Just left and it was an awesome experience. Our group got brisket, pork, catfish and of course the amazing Mac ‘n Cheese. Would definitely go back. The Owner was extremely attentive and (better yet) fun.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. This is literally the nastiest bbq I’ve ever had. The brisket has no flavor, the chicken looked ten days old and DRY! I requested a refund and the owner offered to refund me for the meat but not my whole meal. When I pressed her about a full refund she got a very unprofessional nasty attitude saying she’s a small business and I’m costing her money!!! Perhaps if your food wasn’t disgusting you wouldn’t have this issue. I am having to dispute this transaction with my bank because Shundra refused to refund me in full. I left her nasty food that I wouldn’t feed to a dog at her restaurant along with her nasty attitude!!! And read her low reviews please, she has a history of serving nasty food with a nasty attitude!

All the way from KY…and this place did not disappoint! Mac and cheese so good my eyes closed and rolled back up in my head. Ribs so tender they fell off the bone. I didn’t even use a lot of sauce because the meat had enough flavor to carry its’ own. Hospitality so amazing I couldn’t help but want more. I will return in the future and I encourage you to do the same.

Finally, a good BBQ place with good mac and cheese! Highly recommend getting the “shut the hell up mac and cheese”! It was sticky, cheesy, creamy, everything you want. It had an amazing flavor with an amazing texture– some places don’t do both.

Not sure if their BBQ sauce is homemade but I love that they offer spice level options for it. I tried both the mild and the hot and both were great, the hot had a little bite to it. My, where do I start with this excellent food. I picked up lunch here to-go and was not disappointed. First off, very friendly staff. Appears to be family owned and operated. It took a few minutes to get the order ready because they were actually cooking up all the food once it was ordered. The food wasn’t just sitting around under a heat lamp waiting for someone to buy it. The aroma once I got it home was enticing as well as the presentation. Chicken? Incredible flavor. Sausage? Delicious and perfectly spicy. I’m not usually a big potato salad fan, but theirs was top notch. The french fries were reminiscent of those wonderful fries you get at a county fair. Mac n Cheese? I barely got any because the family devoured it before I could find a fork. I fed my family of five for under $50 and had some to spare. In fact, everything I ordered was worth getting again. I’d leave a suggestion for bettering their food / service to be helpful, but I am not sure what I would change. I like to go the BBQ route about once a month, and Shundra’s will definitely be on my rotation for quality BBQ in Tampa.
