Great food! As others have said, highly recommend the sushi.
We were there not long after opening on a Monday evening, so it was quiet, didn’t need to book ahead.
Yes, there are cheaper places to eat in Town, but the belly pork was more than worth it.
*Sorry, food was too good to wait for pics, it didn’t arrive half eaten *

I pass this restaurant all the time and keep saying to myself…I’ll have to visit there sometime!!… & so I did! It reminds me of Little Saigon(which I loved) & which used to be in the Bigg Market. It was nice and warm inside and I was greeted by a lovely member of staff. I placed my order and the nicest prawn crackers were delivered with a lovely pint of Asahi beer . My main course of Ginger, Salmon Teriyaki arrived, piping hot, a short while later…utterly delicious . You can even karaoke, if you’re so inclined. All in all excellent

Wow! Amazing food! First time visiting this evening and we will be back. We tried sushi for the first time and their speciality dumplings for starters and both were so tasty. For mains we had the crispy belly pork and the sirloin steak dishes and they too were amazing. So much to choose from on the menu, we need to go back!

Early dinner following a theatre show. Food was 10/10 – very welcoming and even offered karaoke (which was politely declined).
2 adults and 1 child – generous portions and everything was delicious. Server was very pleasant. Will be back.

Would definitely come back to try the rest in their menu! Their pansit bihon was so comforting and the tofu which is just so comforting to be eaten with the rice. Also tried the siomai. Though it used a wrapper intended for gyoza, the taste did not disappoint. Forgot the name of the crispy pork belly that looks like lechon macau as well, it just goes well with rice! I hope they would come up with a spicy vinegar sauce together with it as an option. The owner, Elvie, was so hospitable and accommodating. It’s great to see how English people loved Teayempo’s variety of asian food. Highly recommended whenever you are around Newcastle Upon Tyne.

First time we visited Teayempo last night and it did not disappoint! Elvie the host/owner was friendly, attentive and helpful. The food was exceptional. We ordered Shumai and Spring rolls for starter, they were delicious! For the mains we had Sotanghon and Kaldereta, both dishes were cooked beautifully. For dessert we had a sticky toffee pudding and ube brownie which were delicious too. There’s also a karaoke at Teayempo, so if you’re into karaoke then this is the place for you. Overall experience 10/10.

(PS: I don’t have a picture of the ube brownie because I ordered it to take away)

Outstanding sushi. Arguably the best in town. Make sure you order some of this with any meal.

Great starters and a solid selection of mains. Great service.

A Delightful Experience at Teayempo

Teayempo exceeded all expectations, offering exceptional food paired with outstanding customer service. Here’s what we enjoyed during our visit:

* 4-Piece Shumai: Perfectly steamed dumplings filled with minced pork, vegetables, eggs, and seasoning, encased in wonton pastry. Delicately soft and flavorful, these shumai brought back nostalgic, homely vibes.

* Teayempo Express: Tender pork strips cooked in coconut cream, shrimp paste, and fresh chili, served with steamed rice. This dish was a standout! The rich, creamy coconut base was beautifully balanced with just the right chili kick, creating a warm, satisfying flavor profile.

* Crispy Pork Belly: Perfectly crispy pork slices served with their signature sweet sauce, which had a subtle tang reminiscent of hoisin or kingdu sauce. The combination of crispy textures and tender meat made this a memorable dish.

* Soft Shell Crab Sushi (8 Pieces): Crispy, fresh, and well-prepared, the sushi met expectations with its generous serving size and excellent presentation.

* Brownie Dessert with Vanilla Ice Cream and Strawberries: A perfect way to end the meal. The dessert was a harmonious balance of sweetness, complemented by fresh fruit. The portion size was ideal for sharing.

Teayempo was an unexpected find, located next to St Sushi, and we arrived without any expectations. Yet, the bold, well-balanced flavours, combined with a perfect level of chili kick (great for locals), made this an extraordinary experience. As someone who loves spice, I wouldn’t mind a little more heat, but that’s just a personal preference!

All in all, Teayempo delivered a fantastic dining experience that I wholeheartedly recommend. Thank you Anthony for the wonderful experience

Visited on a Wednesday night; there was quite a few clientele in, the decor was very bright with a lot of Asian influence artwork on the walls, adorned with a lot of orchids and faux greenery.

The starters were good, had the most tender Korean BBQ wings I’ve ever had – they literally fell of the bones, very well marinated. I accompanied it with a portion of their California roll – unfortunately it didn’t have too much tobiko on the outside of the roll, which usually is signature of a cali roll. But the taste was good, creamy with the avocado and imitation crab stick.

Next up was the Pork Adobo Donburi, which was served separately to the rice for myself to mix in to my liking. Again, very well tenderised cuts of pork – the adobo is unlike your South American style ones; heavy with paprika but more on the south Asian style, with coconut and pineapple tastes.

The lady who served us was very attentive and lovely, amazing service from the staff and the main course came pretty quickly after the starters. Would recommend if you’re peckish for some pan-Asian fusion food!
