I visited Osteria Mamma after seeing so many good reviews, and it truly lived up to the hype. They had a carrot soup as the special of the day, and since the weather was chilly, I ordered it — it was absolutely delicious. The bread you drizzle oil on felt a bit greasy, but the soup itself was incredible.

I also tried the squid ink pasta, which I’d been really looking forward to, and it was so delicious. The shrimp was super fresh, and the flavors were spot on — you can tell they really know how to cook.

I went on a weekday evening and the service was wonderful. The ambiance was beautiful too, and I thought it would be a great place to come back for a date. Valet parking is $15, but there’s plenty of street parking in the surrounding residential area.

Overall, if you’re craving truly delicious Italian food, I highly recommend this place. I came because of the great reviews, and it ended up being even better than expected.

The price is a bit high though it worth it to taste this flavorful pasta.

Great place great service. Just a bit disappointed the pasta was salty. But at the end they gave us a complimentary dessert to kill the saltiness of the pasta we had. It’s either they changed the chef or the ingredients they used.

First time here and it was amazing. Went with a co-worker that raved about the restaurant and she wasn’t wrong. The lasagna was the best I’ve ever tried, the focaccia was amazing also. Will visit again.

Tried Osteria Mamma and started with the Crostini and Arancini both were very good, but the arancini was my favorite. The meatball with tomato sauce was also excellent full of flavor and very tasty.

For my main, I had the Maltagliati alla Vodka. The pasta and sauce were very good, but it only came with three tiny pieces of shrimp I finished all of them in my first bite. I wish they were more generous with the shrimp to match the price and portion.

Ended with the Panna Cotta and Sorbet both were delicious and a nice way to wrap up the meal.

Overall, I’d recommend this spot if you’re coming for the wine (which they’re known for), but since I don’t drink wine, it wasn’t a standout for me. Personally, I think there are way better pasta spots nearby, like Louise’s Trattoria down the street, that offer a fuller experience , generous portions, and better pricing . Nice experience but probably wouldn’t come back .

I visited on a Monday dinner time, so there weren’t many people, so I was able to eat leisurely. An Italian restaurant with a nice atmosphere. The service was friendly and good. The food was a bit salty, but overall it was delicious. Parking is free at the back of the restaurant. Even if there is a space on the street, you should look carefully at the signs and park.

Osteria Mamma is an absolute gem! From the moment I walked in, I felt the warmth of an authentic Italian family atmosphere. The decor is charming, making you feel right at home.

The food is simply outstanding! I started with their homemade pasta, and it was one of the best I’ve ever had—perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The risotto was creamy and satisfying, and I couldn’t resist ending my meal with their delightful tiramisu, which was the perfect balance of sweetness and texture.

I was also excited to learn that Mamma Loredana’s first cookbook is available! It’s clear that her love for cooking and sharing meals shines through in every dish they serve.

The staff at Osteria Mamma were incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure our dining experience was top-notch. If you’re looking for authentic Italian cuisine in Southern California, I highly recommend visiting Osteria Mamma. I can’t wait to go back and explore more of the menu! Buon Appetito!

If you’re in Los Angeles and in the mood for some of the best Italian food around, Osteria Mamma on Melrose Ave is a must-visit. Though it’s not cheap, the quality and authenticity make it worth every penny .

Our meal started with the pizza Nico Nico, which was delicious. The only minor critique is that it had a bit too much arugula for our taste, but the flavors were spot on . The Polipozzo was next, and it was spectacular. Easily one of the best octopus dishes I’ve ever had, complemented perfectly by the unique addition of purple mashed potatoes .

We also tried the Risotto Speciale, which was nothing short of amazing. Each bite was rich, creamy, and bursting with flavor .

One thing to note is that their portions are quite generous. If you’re dining as a couple, you might want to consider sharing dishes to fully enjoy the variety without feeling overwhelmed.

Overall, Osteria Mamma offers a phenomenal dining experience. From the attentive service to the exquisite dishes, it’s a place that Italian food lovers will appreciate and remember. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in LA and craving a taste of Italy .

Heartless, Greedy, and Completely Unprofessional

If you’re wondering whether this restaurant values its guests, let me save you the trouble: it doesn’t.

One of our main guests became seriously ill on the day of our reservation—a real medical situation, not a casual cancellation. I called immediately and left a voicemail explaining exactly what happened. Their response? “We don’t check messages.” That alone is absurd. Why have a phone line at all if you ignore it?

Despite being informed, they charged my credit card anyway, without a single attempt to call back, confirm, or show even the slightest bit of human decency. No compassion. No flexibility. Just greed masked as “policy.”

This wasn’t a no-show—it was an emergency. The fact that they hide behind rigid rules instead of basic courtesy says everything about how they operate. If this is how they treat guests before you even walk through the door, imagine how little they care once they already have your money.

There are countless restaurants that understand emergencies happen and treat people like humans. This is not one of them. If you enjoy being nickel-and-dimed and dismissed when life happens, this might be the place for you. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and spend your money somewhere that actually deserves .
