First of all, clean restaurant, great atmosphere, very chill vibe.
The food was amazing!
I had Jalepeno Bacon Jam burger and it was amazing. It was on another level. It was so good, i forgot to photo it lol.
It was two patties, with jalepenos, cream cheese, and their own in-house bacon jam. Together, it created a very balanced burger that was very, very delicious.
There were several items that looked and sounded great that we were wanting to try, and they did not disappoint!
I tried the smoked bologna burger (I added cheese) with the smoked Mac and cheese and squash casserole. It was all fresh and had great flavor and I would order it all again.
The other person in my party ordered the brisket and pulled pork platter with slaw, cowboy beans, and pepper jack macbites. We liked the brisket better than the pulled pork, although there was nothing wrong with the pulled pork, it was just okay. The brisket was wonderful, juicy, and full of flavor! You didn’t even need sauce because it tasted so good! We were pleased with the sides as well as they tasted fresh and were full of flavor.
The service was friendly and fast and the decor was great as well. We loved the homemade burned wood tables and benches they had throughout the restaurant, the table we sat at could have easily sat 5 people on each bench.
We had never heard of this place before, and I don’t know if we would have ever stumbled on it without a Google search, but I’m glad we did find it and I can’t wait to go back and try more items from their menu!
I attached a photo of the smoked bologna burger with smoked mac and cheese and squash casserole, we didn’t get a picture of the brisket and pulled pork platter.
The second and third time’s have been absolutely awful. The second time I waited for over 35 mins for my food at the table. Instead of my meal brought first to me, my togo order for when I was supposed to be leaving is brought to me instead of mine and my children’s food. Had to wait an additional 10 mins to get my order. We were waited on by a different waitress more than our own. Very pitiful service. Overall I did speak to someone but I was offered a dessert and just had them pack up my meal and go because we’d been there for way too long at this point.
Today I went in for lunch. It looked to be a usual lunch crowd, there was no line at the counter. Instead of being told there was a wait for togo orders, around 20 mins, she just takes my order. I waited over 30 mins for food. Their service is so poor. I would be understanding about waiting and there being a big back up of orders if they were just upfront in the beginning. Orders and people were piled up everywhere. Had to wait in line again to even pick up my togo order. Tried to speak to them at the counter and all I got was attitude. I won’t be back again. Fries are also soggy instead of being crispy and fresh.
So we sit down at these beautiful obviously locally crafted tables (that are so big you can’t hardly talk to your tablemates across the table and truth just a bit too tall making them a little uncomfortable) and we are given the menus, specifically the special menu..
The specials included a “Caleb dog” and a “Piggy Back Sandwich” and that’s ALL the menu says. We are always looking for something new and different so we ask the waitress what these two specials were and she told us, followed by an “I think”. What she described sounded good so we ordered one of each. She returned a few minutes later to tell us she was wrong and the sandwich included slaw and pickle too and the dog was completely different that she had said.
Why would they not put a description of what these items are in the menu?? And if no description why wouldn’t they train the staff to be able to answer the question??
Also, menus had a couple items that “we don’t serve any more”. Specifically corn on the cob, which was ordered by our 10 year old, he was disappointed when he heard it wasn’t available any longer.
Those things aside the food was delicious, these two items were maybe a bit overly complex, but none the less pretty good.
We will be back to try the staples like the pulled pork, we are betting this is where the winner is.
Oh and order the Mac n Cheese, It’s to die for. The jalapeno grits are OK but if put side by side with JDs, JDs takes the win and few victory laps.
Some of the other reviews mention the serving sizes looking small due to presentation, this is true. However the serving sizes are good but a little better presentation would go a long ways.
