The brisket was great. Ribs were a bit tough. We loved the broccoli salad and mac and cheese. It all paired well with a chocolate malt. We took it down to the beach and enjoyed it overlooking Traverse Bay.

After a perfect day soaking up the sun on one of Upper Michigan’s beautiful beaches, my family and I stumbled upon what turned out to be the ideal way to cap off our adventure – Bardon’s Wonder Freeze. What a delightful surprise this little ice cream stand turned out to be!

In a world where it seems like every food establishment is charging premium prices for mediocre quality, Bardon’s Wonder Freeze stands as a refreshing exception.

The serving sizes were genuinely generous. No skimpy scoops here – they pile it on with the kind of old-fashioned generosity that’s becoming increasingly rare. The kids were thrilled, and honestly, so were the adults. 🙂

The prices were also incredibly reasonable. At a time when a simple ice cream cone elsewhere might cost you $8 or more for a disappointingly small portion, Bardon’s Wonder Freeze proves that you can still get excellent value for your money.

The variety of flavors was impressive, and each scoop delivered on taste. Personally, I went for the Brownie Sundae with hot fudge. VERY yummy!!

The combination of delicious flavors, generous portions, and fair pricing made this a memorable family experience that perfectly complemented our beach day. If you find yourself in Upper Michigan and need a sweet treat, don’t miss Bardon’s Wonder Freeze. It’s truly a local gem.

Good ice cream but they use the same scooper which mix the ice cream with precious customer servicing. For instance I didn’t like the mint added to my butter pecan ice cream

Very underwhelmed with the macaroni and cheese. Interesting experience of thin-ish curdled cheese sauce with about 1/8 cup of water that accumulated at the bottom of the container (1/2 pound container). Curdled nature gave it a bad mouth feel. Maybe the worst mac and cheese I’ve had since my mother’s once and only attempt in 1982. Can think of 20 other places that make mac and cheese better

A delightful treat after climbing the Sleeping Bear Dunes, well needed. The staff was super helpful and the flavors were delicious. Everything I tasted was on point. I’d definitely recommend this as a quick snack.

I visit TC every summer while on leave from the Army and this spot has always been my go to for ice cream. Today I stopped in to grab a treat and was offered samples of the brisket and ribs. I ended up bringing home a slab of ribs and a pound of brisket and both were a big hit with my family. The brisket is honestly one of the best I’ve ever had. Thanks again for the samples and I will be back!

At the intersection of Garfield and Front Street sits Borden’s: a walk-up ice cream shop that’s Traverse City through and through. You’ll find Moomer’s, sundaes, banana splits, frostiest, and every type of flavor ice cream you can dream up on a cone or in a cup. If you’re not into ice cream, they also have hot dogs, sloppy joes, nachos, and pretzels.

Staff wears masks (thank you!) and this place NOW TAKES CARD PAYMENT (whoop whoop). Pretty decent amount of parking. Bring your patience: the line moves quickly but this is a popular place.

I uploaded their hours via photos.

Thanks Bardon’s!

Bardon’s is our go-to for ice cream! However, on the day we went, all.of our orders were overflowing and made for a challenging time trying to eat them before they completely melted. My flurry was a generous two inches over the top.of the cup and I had to use a copious amount of napkins to keep my hand and clothes somewhat clean. The gals who waited on us were very friendly, though.
