Absolutely incredible! A big upgrade with the new owners. This little locally owned gem in Chesterfield is the real deal. I stopped in for dinner! The meat was perfectly spiced. The owner was incredibly kind and helpful. On top of the delicious, affordable, and filling food, they have a fantastic selection of imported European groceries. A must-visit!

Had the chance to visit this weekend without knowing what to expect. I found the food to be fresh and really good! The others have already noted the unique setup—part store, part restaurant—which adds to its charm. In it, there’s plenty of seating, a relaxed and cozy atmosphere, and welcoming owners. My impression of the menu is that it strikes the perfect balance—offering a comfortable, family-oriented selection of authentic meals with a variety of options that don’t feel overwhelming.

I just tried Balkan Store, and my word, the lamb gyro was amazing! Came with fries for only $12! I couldn’t decide on which dessert to try, so I tried 3. The blueberry mascarpone was sweet and delicious. The baklava was flakey and also delicious, as was the honey medovina. I highly recommend Balkan Store if you’re in the area and want to try Bulgarian food. Some of the best food I’ve had!

This place has always had a friendly atmosphere. Newly renovated from a primarily grocery store to a restaurant and store. The food is delicious. We ordered a lamb gyro, lamb gyro panini, and karnache. Everything was tasty and satisfying. They also have outdoor seating.

Stopped in St Louis for a night. Decided to try this shop/restaurant. Glad we did. The man working there was so friendly and the food is so good! The side salad was so big my wife couldn’t eat her panini so she has plenty of food for later! The ajvar dip (comes with the beef) was wonderful. The store was very interesting and nice prices. Had never tried Bulgarian food and we weren’t disappointed. Thanks for the great experience!

Great little place with friendly service and very inexpensive menu. We ordered lamb gyro and it was good and very large. Good fresh salad side as well.. You can sit outside or indoors. Also you can get some of your ethnic Bulgarian groceries.
