Great food, wings are the best. Club sandwich worth the money was great, crab cakes fresh as it can get. Great customer service. Cashier Ladies are absolutely wonderful.

We were traveling from Miami to Orlando and we wanted to go through the countryside to explore and experience a different side of Florida.
On our way, we thought we should grab something to eat and Poppa Jimmy’s was one of the highest rated places around, so we decided to give it a try!
We had no idea what to expect but we were hoping a special and unique experience. We wanted the “local”, “real” thing and we definitely got it!
Decoration and style wise it isn’t much, but what they lack in it they offer in hospitality and taste! The waitress explained the menu to us and we decided to go with the sweet water combo which included a bit of everything we were eager to try such as catfish (their specialty), frog legs and alligator tail!
We hadn’t eaten the latter two before, so it’s hard to compare, but we totally enjoyed them!
The dish costed around 16$ and it was enough for 2 persons. Most importantly we got a taste of a different kind of Florida, more of Southern US state perhaps which we are grateful for.
So if you’re around the area and feeling like something authentic, then you should definitely visit Poppa Jimmy’s. You won’t regret it!

The cashier was nice and helpful, waited about 20 minutes for our food. I was a little disappointed that there was no seating on the enclosed patio, we had hoped to eat outside with our dog. Ordered the catfish dinner and the gator dinner. The dinners come with hush puppies (which were fresh, crunchy and oniony) and 2 sides. Baked beans were good, fries were delicious. I’ve not had much gator, I found it slightly chewy, but everything tasted fresh. Seemed to be a popular spot for the locals even though I got there just before they closed.

I’m not usually a fan of catfish but the catfish at Papa Jimmy’s is delicious and the hush puppies and coleslaw are just as good. If you just happen to be in Pahokee as I was I definitely recommend stopping for a bite.

Breakfast rating.
Let’s start this off with the negative:
The coffee is terrible and the floor is sticky.
Did you nuke the ham?
And the positive:
Biscuits and gravy nice and creamy. Little bland.
Eggs perfect.
Grits were clean.
Exchanged the coffee for soda with no grievance.
The employees were all great!

This place is 100% LOCAL!!! Got freshwater dinner – catfish, gator & frog leggs with hushpuppies, pintos, greens, slaw, friee okra & tried the chili too. Not too salty – good. Meats bery tonder – good. Not masses of breading – good. I’m a savory, crispy, cornmeal hushpuppy girl so they weren’t my fave but still good. Prices we’re also great!!! Thsnks so much!!! Don’t pass it by!!!

Good Southern style catfish restaurant. I’m from Alabama and this tastes like a lightly battered flash fried peice of home.
