After spending some time at the near by spring fed pond, my son and I stopped by this place that was recommended by a local and my God, it did not disappoint. I ordered the crawfish boil and my son had the burger with brisket. He ended up eating half of the burger and preferred the crawfish due to how delicious it was. I tried the baked beans, which are one of the best I have ever had . The customer service was top notch and I loved the decorating around the area.

This was a pit stop on our roadtrip. Googled BBQ near me, and selected Bucking Good. Brisket snd P-Paw’s sauce were very good. Wish each haf been a bit warmer. but this was a late lunch. Sides were the best we’ve eaten at a BBQ place. Had smokey mac n cheese and fried okra. If both were not made from scratch I’d be surprised Definitely the fried were. Worth the stop, intentional or planned.

First, let me say, the people that own
This place are good people, they are just in the wrong business! That being said, if you drive into a very small town and you don’t smell BBQ and see a long line, chances are there is none! How did I forget this little life lesson? If you live on Rudy’s, Lockhart, Coopers, Zimmerhanzels, and Franklin’s BBQ, you will be very disappointed here.
At best, very marginal, and quite possibly boiled meat. No pits that I could see or smell, the Turkey and brisket were as dry as a bone, the sauce didn’t even help. I didn’t think that you could screw up sweet tea, or fries, but when the water comes out of the tap, and it’s pond water and sugar…. The fries were limp and drenched in oil and soggy, other sides, underwhelming @ best.
As a small business owner, just because you are passionate about something, doesn’t always mean you are good at it. I wish him the best, no hard feelings, just not up to par for TX BBQ. Drive east a few miles and pick up some Coopers, you will thank me later.

Buck’n Good BBQ catered our family reunion. The food was delicious. Our family is large with more than 100 attending. There was more than enough food. I would recommend Buck’n Good BBQ to cater any event.

I was hungry and stopped to eat some breakfast. The problems started with the ordering process with a bad card reader. No big deal, payed cash. My over easy eggs were 100% done hard fried eggs, no big deal I ate em, the sausage patties were so thin you could fold em up and eat em in one bite, no big deal, I ate em. The “diced potatoes” which was at most a half of a small potato was hard to eat with small plastic utensils, nonetheless I ate em. The reason for the review was the unsweetened ice tea, it was not for human consumption, which in Texas is a crime, it didn’t look like iced tea, sure didn’t taste like iced tea but came out of an urn that said iced tea. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this story had to be told. Details details details. Hopefully they get the picture.

Tommy recently catered our Gage Family reunion. The food was plentiful and delicious. If you need an event catered, give him a call. You will be glad you did.

I’m from Lockhart. I eat a lot of BBQ. This place had the best plate of BBQ I’ve had in 20 years. Had the brisket and sausage plate with beans and potato salad. Great people and great food. If you are planning a road trip to Lockhart, change directions and head to San Saba.

Eat here.

They don’t skimp on the brisket sandwich.
Big meat and big flavor.

Get a sandwich all the way, with jalapeños.
And snag those 2 free beers.

If you don’t like this place, you probably don’t like real Texas BBQ anyways.

BBQ was ok. Had the three meat plate with extra sausage; ribs, pulled pork, and brisket. The pulled pork and brisket were dry. Ribs were ok. Sausage was over done, cold, not flavorful. Poor service. Messed up the order as well. Dirty tables. Really wanted to like this place.

They forgot to cook our entire order/party of 6, then did not get our order right. Took almost one hour. Had to get refunded for the bbq 2 meat platter and mac and cheese because they just didn’t cook it. Burger was drier than cereal and 1/8” thin soybean patty!!!
