Best Mexican food in Anchorage! Hands down! You know you’re in for a flavor bomb when the place makes their own tortillas in house! The portion sizes are great and they don’t skimp on the meat! So far, I’ve tried the pork belly, tripa, el pastor, carne asada, shrimp and fish tacos. Also, the chorizo breakfast burrito, carne asada burrito, pozole, refried beans, rice and charred jalapeños. EVERYTHING so far has been AMAZING! The textures, flavors and freshness is on point! Absolutely NO complaints about their food! The JIMICA TACOS are next on my list! But, they are available for a limited time only! So go grab up some today! Don’t forget to ask for the squeeze bottle of red salsa for more flavor and heat!
The music, murals and decor give the place a good atmosphere. They have plenty of tables inside and outside. The employees are so sweet and friendly! If you haven’t tried this place yet or you just want some good quality, flavorful food, stop by and place your order! If not, they deliver through DoorDash!
***UPDATE!!!***
They now have birria tocos! Also, they’re selling their homemade fresh tortillas in a 12ct and their red hot salsa in 2oz, 4oz or 6oz! I’m sure there is a lot more because this place changes for the better every time we go!

We were excited to try this mexican restaurant but unfortunately it was quite overhyped. Very expensive for the amount of food served and none of the food came out hot. (I had to carefully dip the chips in the queso or they would snap in half from the cheese being cool.) I did really enjoy the oil they put on top the quest though. The seating is very limited – expect to be sharing a table with strangers in a loud environment.

Had the three tacos (zucchini; great vegetarian option) and an horchata. Also tried the Jamaica aguas Fresca. Both aguas frescas were “legit”. The vegetarian option tacos base was sweet and tasty, and tacos were filling. My wife had the tacos with three different meats and her favorite was the carne asada. Mexican food has been surprisingly good here in Anchorage. (We’ve also been very selective as to where we go). Alaska prices but support the business here!

I had an amazing meal at Rafelitos! The tacos were packed with flavor and came out fresh, hot, and perfectly seasoned. Each one had tender, juicy meat topped with fresh cilantro, onion, and a delicious green salsa that tied everything together. The chips on the side were crisp and tasty, and the lime added the perfect touch. I also enjoyed the refreshing drink that paired perfectly with the meal.
The presentation was clean and inviting, and the portions were just right. You can really tell the food is made with care. If you’re craving authentic, flavorful tacos in Anchorage, this is the spot to go. I’ll definitely be coming back!

It’s a counter stand place, we went to finish off a week long trip in Alaska. Had low expectations but it was the best food I had the whole trip. Will go back again next time we are in town. Pozole soup and halibut tacos were the best

My wife, daughter, son-in-law, and I ambled into Rafelito’s after a morning exploring the Coastal Trail on bikes..
Nestled into an industrial area in south central Anchorage, Rafelito’s offers a fusion of industrial and Latin-inspired decor in a decidedly industrial-inspired structure..
Between the four of us we sampled a carne asada burrito, chicken quesadilla, ground beef nachos, and carne asada and pastor street tacos..
My wife and I shared the nachos and street tacos and found all of it to be quite deelish.. The nachos were amply portioned with fresh and lightly salted chips, wonderfully seasoned ground beef, cheese, and topped with finely shredded cabbage, diced jalapeños, pico de gallo, guacamole, sour cream, and roasted garlic & jalapeño aioli.. The nachos offered an excellent medley of flavors and the chips were fantastic..
The street tacos held their own, crafted atop a pair of fresh, 7″ corn tortillas, and topped with fresh diced onions, chopped cilantro, and mild salsa.. The pastor was flavorful and had a nice hint of pineapple.. The carne asada was crafted with sliced top round steak marinated in a house garlic marinade, a first for me, and likely the star of the show as a result..
All in all, the four of us thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would certainly recommend Rafelito’s to anyone desiring quality Mexican fare in a unique atmosphere..

If you are shopping in the South District, then this is your lunch pit stop. Awesome atmosphere and simply the cleanest kitchen of any taco stop in Alaska. I evaluate all taco places by their Birria Tacos. They were large, we’ll made, and paired beautifully with their homemade salsa and dipping sauce.
Pros:
-Great Atmosphere
-Very very clean
-Great variety of food
Cons:
-Limited Parking and indoor seating
-Expensive
-Longer wait for tacos than standard
Overall, a wonderful gem tucked away with great tasting food. A solid break from the madness of Costco!

Rafelitos is absolute the best TACOS in Alaska!! I share my experience with all my friends, because they know I’m a Taco lover. I have been fortunate enough to have been married to a Mexican for 20 yrs. That I know what good Mexican food is, especially cuz I always say “tacos made by Mexicans” are the best. You won’t be disappointed by this place. In this economy we shouldn’t be saying “it’s so expensive” we should either hand it over or stay home. I’m becoming a repeated customer. The beautiful gal at the register gets happy to see me. I enjoy speaking Spanish to her. The guacamole is fire but don’t get me started on the habanero sauce.. Keep up the great work! Haters are gonna hate, But your still gonna be Fabulous.

You can call me a regular. I live in kenai and pretty much every time I’m in Anchorage, I stop by and eat here. I love real Mexican food no gringo style. I enjoy visiting with the owner you will often see him checking on customers or helping out his staff.

They make their own salsa that have a good taste. Even the mild has some kick

Fresh and Delicious!
Tried Raflito’s for the first time in Anchorage—amazing fish tacos! The salmon, halibut, and shrimp were super fresh, and the homemade salsa was a perfect match. Additionally homemade Mexican Flan is BEST ! Definitely coming back!
