Our family ate at the Y Steak House recently. We’ve been eating there for the last several years during our annual fishing trip to the area.
We arrived around 5:00, which meant happy hour was still going (it’s from 4:00-5:30 evenings Monday through Friday). The restaurant has two main rooms, one of which is by the bar area.
Unfortunately, this evening most people were disappointed by their selections. On the positive note, those who had the fried chicken thought it was delicious. The skin was crispy and fried to perfection, trapping the moisture inside. Wonderful!
The salad that comes with entrees is always good. The dressings come on the side, and toppings include grapes, strawberry slices, carrot sticks, radishes, celery, tomatoes, cucumbers and more.
Each entree also includes a vegetable, and this evening, we had corn on the cob. Everyone who had the corn enjoyed it.
And now for the negatives from various individuals. The salmon was dry. Fortunately, there was a sauce to dip it in.
My son didn’t care for ribs at all. He thought they were dry and didn’t like the flavor of the sauce.
The potato skins were extra thick and over cooked, making them dry as well.
The prime rib sandwich got good reviews for the taste but came across as too fatty for a sandwich.
Service was good overall. We only had water to drink, but our server kept our glasses full.
Maybe it was an off night because they’ve been very good in the past. I’m sure we’ll try it again, but for this trip, we were disappointed.

I read some reviews and needed to try out this steak house in Park Rapids MN. We made 5:30 reservation for 5. Our table was ready. Service was excellent. Ordered fried walleye fillets. It came with the house salad, bread. Baked potatoes, carrots and fruit. The salad was and of the best I’ve had. Lettuce, broccolini, carrot stick and celery. Radish and cauliflower and croutons. With a strawberry and grapes. Homemade dressing. Delicious. Walleye was delicious and plentiful. Ir was special for $30. I would recommend this steakhouse/seafood restaurant.

Y steak house gets 5 ⭐️ from us! We went for the first time yesterday and we were pleasantly surprised! Staff is so friendly and helpful! We discussed their GLUTEN FREE MENU and you won’t be disappointed, they make their menu from scratch! I had the “special “ prime rib, I was expecting the “special “ prime rib as well. To my delight, it’s honestly the best prime rib I’ve ever had! Oh my gosh! The food presentation is delightful! I’ve honestly never been to a restaurant in park rapids that takes the effort to present food in a wonderful way! I’m serious! Go here!

Y Steakhouse was a great experience. I had the Y Chop — perfectly cooked, well-seasoned, and full of flavor. You could taste the quality in every bite. The freshly grown Pike’s corn on the side was incredible — sweet, crisp, and clearly just-picked. I had my eye on the $5 desserts (they all sounded amazing), but I was way too full to fit anything else in. Next time, I’m saving room!

The service was great and I had no problems with the staff. However, when you go to a steak house there are certain expectations. This did not live up to any expectations of what a decent steak house would be. I was rather disappointed. The salad was the smallest salad I have ever had. The rolls were almost laughable due to another small portioning problem. My husband was deeply upset by the prime rib. I However did enjoy my top sirloin and corn on the cob! Overall this is a below par mediocre steak house. Nothing to brag about.

Dined here last weekend with my family. Our server Treal was great, very personable and everything was going great until I was handed a sub-par steak. I ordered a mid rare Filet and was given a medium cooked steak that resembled a mediocre sirloin. Heavy grain and not filet like at all. The waitress told the chef I wasn’t happy with it. Our entire table was mortified when the chef came out and was visibly MAD at me for my response to the sub par piece of meat he served me. He spent 5 minutes arguing with me that I was wrong and implying I didn’t know what I was talking about. None of the 5 adults at the table (and my children) had ever experienced something like that. He did make it right and serve me a worthy filet (it was very good) and then the mother of the owner took my steak off our tab, but the damage was done. I will never go here again, nor would I recommend it to anyone. I believe the first steak was an honest mistake, but holy crap, the ego and anger of the chef/owner was unacceptable, to say the least.
