As someone who frequently dined at the original location near Ala Moana well over 10 years ago, I had high hopes and expectations trying this newer Waikiki location.
The first dish that arrived at our table, the beef tongue, blew me away and every dish after brought a big smile of satisfaction to my face;)
The shiso hamachi roll was also so good that I wanted to order it again rather than giving the other rolls a try.
We had the privilege of having Ali as our server and she was nothing short of amazing! So sweet, warm, and attentive… always made sure my tea was hot and full too!
The atmosphere was a vibe and the bathrooms were nice and clean. I can most definitely say I found my new fave go to spot for a nice dinner on the island. Really looking forward to coming back and trying the other dishes.
My tummy is so so happy!

Super great service. We had arrived a little late trying to find parking. But they were very accommodating. The food was super good! Small plates to share and the drinks were really good too. We got the mentaiko yakisoba, ichibo steak, niku tofu and other great food that I unfortunately did not take photos of. The lemon chu-hi was really good too. I recommend adding the honey to it! Overall a great experience and will definitely be coming back!

A disappointing experience overall. The service was abysmal. We had a table for five and the server didn’t provide enough menus. I asked for another menu and the waitress gave me attitude for asking. Finally, she begrudgingly gave me another menu. Later, we ordered cocktails and she slammed them all down at once. She placed them at the edge of the table, leaving us to distribute the drinks ourselves. The food was decent, but nothing outstanding.

This establishment has a fun vibe and a cool menu. It has a lot of potential and could use some fine tuning to be great.

Great service, server was very attentive and kind. The atmosphere was great, classy and calm. The food was good, not the best for its price though. The steak was a little bland and the Shokudo roll had great fish that you couldn’t taste due to the amount of unagi sauce.

The sweet potato salad reminds me of my time in Okinawa. It’s the first time I ate here even though I have stayed in Waikiki so many times. If you want a reminder of Japan, this is a great place to dine. This is now on my must eat list for every visit. Small plates, try everything, find your favorites and come back and order them.

Everything from the grill had amazing smokey flavor. I for me the washugyu don and the butterfish were the stars of the night, but everything else was also stellar and the best version of that food I’ve ever had. The only items that were less than 5 stars for us were the crab cakes because the texture was a bit unexpected but that could just be our own lack of experience. And the yakisoba was a new flavor for my mouth, not bad, just new.
And the honey toast! Idk how they made something so simple so delicious. It was certainly a case of the sum of the whole is greater than its parts.

Highly recommend. My wife and I sat at the bar and had an amazing meal including the tataki cucumber, garlic pepper rice, mentaiko yakisoba, miso- glazed eggplant, and ichibo steak. It was a lot of food for two but everything we had was delicious.

One of the best meals I’ve had in Oahu! We ordered the tataki cucumber, yukari fries, garlic pepper rice, yakisoba, and jidori chicken. Everything was super flavorful and the service was great. Will be back for sure!

It’s just great in every way!
The quality of the fish, the dishes, the speed, service, welcoming. 10/10! Or would be 1000?
I give 10000 stars!
I was sleeping and my husband got me out of bed, and I am happy he did!
We had the hamachi carpaccio to start and is probably the BEST one I ever ate!
We eat sushi all the time, and this is out of this world!
We also had the agedashi tofu, edamame, Shoduko roll that was just amazing!, yakisoba and the steak which is the best steak I ate in a longgg time! Perfectly seasoned and cooked!
For drinks, he had Asahi beer and I had a Lilikoi Hi and Lychee Hi, and both were great and not to sweet.
For dessert, we had the Mother’s Day special which was the Honey toast with apple compote, graham crackers and vanilla ice cream. It’s huge and delicious! We ate the entire plate!
Chris was our server and he very humble and attentive, super sweet and kind! Great job!

It’s a gem in Waikiki and a must go restaurant when visiting. We will definitely be back soon!

We ate at their Ala Moana area location years ago and really enjoyed it. I was happy to see that this location was close to our hotel (Lay Low) and was open late (till 1am).

ATMOSPHERE:
Located on the second floor of a multi-tenant building, the cozy izakaya has no decor, warm lighting and can get a bit loud. Seating is spacious along with a bar setup.

RESERVATIONS:
I made them on OpenTable for 9:30pm on a Friday night, which was a good decision as they were pretty busy even at that late hour.

PARKING:
Street or in nearby garages.

MENU:
They were out of several items and still had 3.5 hours till closing. Strong list of Japanese apps, handful of sushi styles, stir fried, grilled and rice dishes. Definitely get their infamous Honey Toast for dessert.

BEVERAGE:
Sake Lychee-tini
Perfectly sweet with bold lychee flavor.

FOOD:
Tako Karaage
Ugh, sold out!

Tataki Cucumber
Refreshing & crunchy, with savory sesame & bonito flavors. Highly recommended.

Miso Butterfish
Nice sized filet with not a single bone in it! Flaky, moist, and perfectly seasoned. Highly recommended.

Shokudo Roll
Thin ring of rice (a plus for me) with a trio of fresh fish, drizzled with a sweet and savory sauce. Highly recommended.

Yakisoba
They were out of pork, instead replaced with thin slices of beef. This was such an enjoyable dish! The chewy noodles and crunchy veggies were stir fried in a tasty seasoning and sat on a thin layer of scrambled egg (pics make the egg look like a pool of sauce). Highly recommended.

Jidori Chicken
We got it salted with the teriyaki sauce on the side. The chicken slices were juicy but unevenly seasoned and lacked texture from the grill. Still, a good dish.

DESSERT:
Honey Toast
How can something so simple be so heavenly? Thick buttered and toasted Japanese white bread with a cubed out center, two scoops of vanilla ice cream sitting on top, all drizzled with honey.

SERVICE:
Host greeting was immediate and friendly. We arrived right on time and our table was ready.

Male server was mainstream. Waters were constantly topped off.

TIP:
Maybe dine early to avoid dishes being sold out?

OVERALL:
Good food, fair pricing and open late.
