The food was excellent. The pork tender and perfectly cooked, the steak was perfect. It is a bit pricey but you can tell they spare no expense obtaining quality cuts of meat for their meals. The rice was nicely flavored and fluffy. Excellent overall experience. Service was great our waitress was patient, kind, and helpful.

Very beautiful restaurant with amazing service. We had a wonderful time at mesa the bright interior and great service were highlights. We got the calimari and croquettes to start which were indredibly solid. However for the main course we got the meat platter to share and we were expecting great things since Portuguese food touts their meats however we were met with. A salty assortment of dry meats. The pork rib was inedibly salty while the chicken was overcooked. The sausage and pichana were the highlights of the platter. Overall I’d try something else next time

Went here for a quick lunch last week while visiting York, PA. Never been to a Portuguese restaurant so decided to try it. Atmosphere is nice, I have to say I enjoyed the playlist they had going in the room.
Because we were looking for a light lunch, we did not get deep into the menu. I had the soup pf the day and a Caesar salad, wife had Caesar salad wrap. The salad was good. The Soup was very good, but to this day I don’t know exactly what it was. The server was new and had apparently not been trained very well. When I asked what the soup of the day was, all she knew was it that it was a potato soup with crab. It turned out to be a cream, kale and clam with potatoes. I enjoyed it, even though it was a total surprise. Did order the Portuguese coruetes, they give you four, two cod and two shrimp. I preferred the shrimp, the red chilly jam could have had more kick to it and was just ok. I would like to try dinner here, but I don’t know when I will be in York again. As I have noted, service was bad., food good. We parked about 3 block down the street in a public lot, not sure if there is closer parking.

We came on a Friday night in December and seemingly downtown York was asleep, it was so quiet. We were able to get seated immediately at 6:20. With that being said, probably get reservations. First, what a beautiful restaurant! It open and bright, a nice contrast to the other places we looked at. The mural in the back wall was beautiful and the place was decorated for the holidays. Patti was our server and she was great! They served bread and olives that were a pleasant opening to the meal. My daughter ordered an iced coffee with vanilla and she enjoyed it. Our dinners were the sliced steak sandwich, pork and shrimp on potatoes and meat on cubed potatoes. I had the meat on cubed potatoes. The portions are big. The meat and potatoes were in really good sauce. The sauce made this dish because the meat did not seem seasoned. The Chorizo also adds a pleasant addition of flavor. On a cold drizzly night this was perfectly simple and cozy! My wife said that the pork and shrimp was similar. The sliced steak sandwich was on a beautifully toasted roll and my daughter had to eat it with a fork and knife! If you have made it this far, stop eating and save room for dessert. I had the rice pudding and it was close to perfect. Instead of nutmeg they use vanilla. It’s dense and flavorful! My wife had chocolate mousse cake. It was the best thing we ate all night! My daughter had a Portuguese custard tart. She said that it was ok but she would order the mousse cake next time. Overall an excellent experience and I would recommend it highly!

I went here with friends the other night for dinner. The food was incredible. I loved it so much, I’ve been thinking of just ordering it weekly for takeout. I can’t stop thinking about how good it was. I had the garlic chicken entree & made a special request for fresh grilled pineapple on top, which the owner was more than happy to accommodate. He was super friendly and engaging, as was his family. I watched in awe at some other tables who had ordered tableside flaming meats. The atmosphere was very casual and cozy. I will DEFINITELY be back!!

I’m not usually one to be picky about food, but this spot just didn’t leave a great first impression, unfortunately. The atmosphere inside was wonderful, and our service was great, but the dishes we ate had some issues. My fish was quite oily, and my partner’s chicken was chewy, something that made it difficult for her to finish the meal. Given the prices, we agreed that the preparation of these dishes wasn’t up to our expectations. I personally think I may try to give Mesa another chance, trying some other dishes, but my partner already decided she would not return because of that experience. If you are seeking authentic Portuguese food, this place does deliver on that promise.

First time ever having Portuguese food and it was delicious! Wonderful aromas swirling throughout the restaurant. Wife got half chicken and it was awesome. I got the mixed meat with potatoes and it was good but not great – it was painfully salty, to the point I had to stop eating it. Server said the sauce is naturally salty but this was salt overload. Good portions, felt value was good for the price. Looking forward to coming back to explore other things on the menu.

We went for a special occasion and made a reservation, so our table was prepared neatly for our large party. We decided to get the meat platter to share and the paella to share. We had plenty for everyone and enough for a couple lunches. Everything was extremely tasty and well prepared. Picanha was the favorite. Definitely try the Piri sauce. Couldn’t even try dessert we were too full. There were a lot of interesting cocktails available as well.

After arriving in Hershey PA for the weekend, I did not want the same food thats available around Chocolate avenue so I looked for a Portuguese restaurant, and I found Mesa Moreira in York Pa 45 min away. The food and service are excellent, especially the grilled chicken. I ended up making the trip twice. I suggest making a reservation and I highly recommend it.

So I was in town for work and I contacted a friend of mine about meeting up for dinner at this new spot.
Disclaimer: I grew up in Portugal so I’m in tune with Portuguese cuisine. The service and server was attentive from the get go. This was good food. My friend had the stuffed salmon which he enjoyed and I had the traditional Portuguese steak dish. We also had appetizers, the grilled Portuguese sausage and croquettes.
**** be advised, this is not a run of the mill Place to eat you will need to be prepared to pay a nice sum but it’s worth every penny.
They’re still waiting on their liquor license from the state so for now local beer is available.
I thoroughly enjoyed my food and I got to meet the owner Steve.
It was great food and great to catch up with a friend.
PS. My friend and I are fluent in Portuguese.
