Let me start by saying we thought we had a reservation but it turned out to be the next weekend. The manager gave a table any way. Which was great, because I had never been here and want to try their food. Our waiter was very good and helped us with food choices. Since I don’t do spicy at all it was hard to choose from. Wish I remembered his name but he earned that good tip. Now on to the food. I got the cod with veggies and the garlic mashed potatoes. The cod was overcooked and I had to cut into it to eat it with my knife. It was seared way to long. The veggies had no flavor at all. Also if you look at the second dish there is so much oil in the bottom of my dish. I’m sorry to ever say this but the Sweet Tea was not good either. How do you mess up on Tea? And my date said his was ok but not great. So I really can’t say much about his.
I really hated to do this kind of review. Because I really wanted to like this place. I really do. Maybe next time I go I will try something different. If there is a next time.

We went here today for lunch right when they opened. We liked the atmosphere, the customer service, and food. My husband and I shared the Boudin Balls (you get 3 total). I was nervous about trying them, but I’m glad I did. The Creole mustard was excellent! Our waitress said she liked to eat them with hot sauce and my husband agreed after tying it that way. My husband had the Crawfish Etouffee and really enjoyed it. I had the Country Gumbo and after mixing it up it was good with great flavor. I thought it was bland until I mixed it up. We had bread pudding for dessert and it isn’t a standard bread pudding. It’s more of a caramel apple pie meets bread pudding and they marry. It was good, but we will opt for something else next time. Overall, we were satisfied and we will definitely be back as there are multiple other items on the menu we want to try whether it be lunch or dinner. I hope you try it here and enjoy it as much as we did!

La Roux Bistro on Commercial Street – Springfield Missouri has so much love and detail into every aspect. My buddy and foodie friend Joseph Gidman developed this concept amongst his other amazing eateries on this historic part of Springfield. From the moment you walk in you feel at home. The beautiful murals, the upbeat vibe upstairs to the middle level where you literally walk into the kitchen to the downstairs vault. There is history around every turn and no expense was spared on the vibe and decor. The food is very New Orleans meets C-Street and I am absolutely in love with the French Onion Soup. My wife and I went for date night last time I was in town and we had an absolute blast. My wife couldn’t stop raving about the olive tapenade and charcuterie. From the freshly baked bread to the delicious appetizers and main dishes to dessert it’s hard to go wrong. Come hungry and come thirsty because your La Roux Family awaits to make you feel at home. They even made us some fun mocktails to sip on as we waited for our seat that were divine! Thanks to all that made this dream a reality, we adore you!

I have been wanting to dine here since they opened . However, I live 60 miles away.
Just so happens, my adult daughter and I were in town. Didn’t have reservations and was only dressed in jeans n T Shirt (felt underdressed )
We got there at 1050am . The doors were opened at 1055am . Upon entry we were greeted by at least 3 people . 1 behind the Bar , A host/Server and and gentleman who I would assume to be the manager . They asked where we would like to be seated. I gave them the option of where ever is best for them.
Sat down stairs in the Bistro section. This place is beautiful. And as a Restaurant Chef/Manager I love to see the kitchen. From my seat I could see most of the kitchen.
Upon being seated , with menus and utensils on the table , we were immediately given waters and greeted by Andy our amazing server . He obtained our drink order .
Answered all my questions and gave us recommendations. As I consider myself a foodie and would love to try the whole menu .
Started with the Bayou Board app .
Fries Gator Amazin flavor and perfect texture, not chewy or over breaded .
Andouille sausage. Smaller and cut thinner than I expected but a lot of it . Good flavor .
Boudin Balls – amazing flavor of chicken and pork , cooked to perfection.
Blue crab beignets- what can I say. I love me some crab , mixed with cream cheese and seasoning, shallots and fried to perfection
The sauces were delicious as well, although the remoulade was not our favorite very thick consistency and flavor was not on point
Least on the board was some sort of very hot (temp) corn with lots of seasoning and a lil spice (menu said spicy caraway slaw but that’s not what I would call it )
Entrees
Shrimp po boy – toasted baguette with perfectly fried shrimp , fresh pickles , tasty citrus sauce on the bun and a heaping mound of fries
Shrimp and grits – oh this is probably the best cheesy polenta I’ve ever had. The creole sauce and 6 huge gulf shrimp , tender , succulent and not over cooked . And those tasty andouille sausage bites , then topped with fresh green onions … oh my gosh
I wanted the Seafood étouffée but alas that is only a dinner option.
This place is a must try.
Andy was excellent as our sever .
We will be back . Maybe I’ll put in a reservation for the tunnel room or whatever they call it.

We had a phenomenal time dining on the stone bistro level for a Saturday dinner. From appetizers to dessert, everything was great, and we loved all the detail that went into the menu, decor, and drinks. Our top items were the fried green tomato appetizer, the blackened redfish, bananas foster cheesecake, and the Cafe du Monde chocolate cake with coffee frosting. We’re excited to come back!

I definitely recommend La Roux! I took my husband for his birthday last night; the atmosphere was relaxed and romantic (at least on the second level), the food was amazing (the photo is of the chicken supreme) and the service was outstanding. Our waiter Andy was always on top of things with a smile and he sounded passionate about the food he was serving as well. It was a great experience and we can’t wait to come back and give other menu items a try!

Love the multitude of options for individuals who require Gluten Free dining! We especially loved the Gator Bites & Shrimp n’ Grits. The cocktails are both traditional and adventurous. We have dined upstairs for a more informal lunch & down in the cellar for a birthday celebration. Both were perfect for our groups.

This is a brand new restaurant in Springfield MO, located on Historic Commercial Street. The atmosphere is striking! As soon as you walk in the front doors you encounter a magnificent mural on the wall and natural light flooding the upstairs space. We were greeted and seated right away to a table adorned with real flowers. Our server Allison took great care of us the whole time as we moaned over the scrumptious crab app and seafood e’touff’ee. If you want to impress someone with some fine dining, take them here!!! We also had wine down in their awesome stone cellar.
