We were in town for the weekend and at the recommendation of a family member we stopped at Maicel’s Bakery. She said they have the best Latin desserts. We can at lunch and OMG we had enough food to feed us for 3 days! I had the morros, marudos, and ropa vieja. They loaded me down that I barely put a dent in my plate. The food was full of flavor. We also had some pastelitos de guava and quesitos and yum they were good! My only complaint was that we weren’t sure where to order because we thought we were standing in line then they were taking others orders on another side so we go stand there then someone else who came after was taken care of. Eventually someone helped us.

I had a wonderful experience at Mikel’s Kitchen. It’s authentic Cuban food with amazing flavor and generous portions. I ordered a passion fruit juice (parcha) and it was fresh, refreshing, and delicious. The service was friendly and attentive, and the whole place has a warm, home-style vibe. I’ll definitely be coming back!

For the past 50 years, the Florida Bakery has been a family-owned and operated business. Located in the heart of West Tampa, Florida Bakery continues a Cuban style tradition that was brought here from the recipes of Cuba and Europe. They have a little bit of everything from our specialty Cuban hamburger sandwiches, to loads of pastries and international sweets.

They specialize in Cuban-style cakes that are beautifully decorated for weddings, birthdays, quinceañera and baptisms. All cakes are 3 layers with tropical fruit fillings, including guava, pineapple, vanilla custard and coconut. The cakes are smothered with a “special secret syrupy sauce” that keeps them “very moist and delicious to the taste.” And to top it off, each cake “is smoothed out and decorated to your own imagination” delicious “meringue” fluffy marshmallow frosting.

My Cuban friend Bárbara Cruz says:

“They have to be Cuban!
1. Those cakes are positively lurid
2. Those tamales are definitely Caribbean, not Mexican at all.
3. Note that the piñata has a bunch of little strings. Each child at the party holds a string and then on the count of three, everyone pulls for the candy to come out. There is no whacking with a bat at a Cuban birthday party!”

Parking: It’s a strip mall, so that shouldn’t be a problem. But it’s Saturday, so expect spots to be tight. The lot to the west bends around the building for more parking.

To be honest, everytime I go here there always different people working.. I always wonder how they always have so many cake ready to go for the day? Or just any sweets here. I got a cheese pastry it was hard and dry.. never getting it again. I have tried their breakfast sandwiches and they are good fresh made on the spot. I have also ate their food and some days are good and some are just ok. They place will give you a 50/50..

1st..you can’t even talk to or see anyone face when ordering because you have way to much stuff all of the tops of the cabinets which looks so unorganized and over crowded. 2nd..you need to have someone that can speak English. I could never go in there without my husband. They seemed annoyed I couldn’t understand them.
3rd. The food was just ok. The con Leche was about a 6 compared to other places I have gotten it.
It was my 1st time in and will try it one more time.
The reviews about mold are quite disturbing so I will probably just eat the hot foods that are served.

Amazing food and service. The serving size was huge. The taste was amazing like home made food. It was really hard to decide what to get because there were so many amazing options. I will be returning soon.

I went on Saturday to purchase some food for me and my son. When it was given to me in a bag, l felt it it was not warm enough. I did not pay too much attention to that. When l got went home, and opened the bag, both dishes smelled bad, but me, thinking it was the oil, or the onions, etc. ate both dishes. God, we got sick! My son vomited for an entire day and l had diarrhea, Sunday and Monday. I called the restaurant to notify and get a refund, but Maria, said she was a new person, advised me that she could not do anything because the manager was not there. She also stated that Manager was present after 11:a.m. I live about an hour from there, but went today, Tuesday, because l was going to do some errands around the area. I arrived, and again, a girl went inside, spoke to some other people and came back saying that the Manager was not there and that l should have gone the day of the incident. I told her l live far and could not do it. She then expressed that she could not do anything. I asked her at what time the manager was going to be there, and she replied that she had not idea! Weird! I am very upset for the way they handled a health concern and no one cared about me, or getting sick. I did not get a refund and they just brushed it off. I do NOT recommend this place. I did not check how low reviews they have and me, and my son had the worst experience during a weekend. I will call the health department and file a complaint. These people could care less about the way they handled concenrs. Here is my review. Bad experience, bad customer service and rotten food! Do not go there!

They have a Really good selection of items to choose from, and they have some of the best Cuban bread on the planet. It’s truly phenomenal! I was very impressed with all the menu items. The Maikel’s sandwich was loaded. The ropa Vieja empanada is the best empanada I’ve ever had. I’ve edited my review because I’ve ordered here several times now and I must say this place is hit or miss on quality, and if you order late the portion shrinks as well, but it’s so delicious and flavorful even when they skimp or the quality isn’t the best. I have had a bad experience, but the good outweighs the bad. I only knocked down my rating by one star because the last time they messed up my order, but I will continue to patronize this business either way.

I cant complain about the food. I been going to this bakery since it opened. Customer service is a big issue. The staff needs more training and so does management on how they speak to customers. That ruined my last experience for me. I will start going to a different bakery. Owners should be more involved with their staff.
