My boyfriend and I went there on a Saturday night and it was super packed. The tables were very close together near the bar area but they had a nice view of the park and some downtown buildings. I ordered the fettuccini chicken and my boyfriend ordered the Pappardelle. My fettuccini chicken was not impressive, it had very little sauce and the chicken was very bland, the entire dish lacked flavor. I tried some of my boyfriend and his was actually pretty good, the sauce they put into the dish went very well with the Italian sausage. The atmosphere was very loud, which is understandable because it was a Saturday and they were extremely busy. All in all I would say this was an okay experience, nothing too memorable.

Incredible ambiance and friendly staff. The food looks and tastes amazing. Complimentary bread & oil is terrific. Definitely stop by while you’re in Milwaukee!

I’ve been to Louse’s in the past and have always had great service and food. I went there Sunday evening and my opinions have completely changed. I have always loved the bread, so we asked for some. Not only did we have to ask for it twice, but it didn’t come until the meal came. The salad I ordered (sun-dried tomato/pine nut/goat cheese) has always been my favorite–it came completely drowned in dressing. I almost couldn’t eat it (but I was starving). I ordered the artichoke ravioli for my meal and it was inedible, it was so salty. I’m not one to send anything back, ever, but I just couldn’t eat it. By the time we saw a waiter (anyone) to send it back, over 10 minutes had passed. The flatbread pizza (ordered by my boyfriend) tasted as though it had been sitting out…a long while. I opted to not order anything else to eat (by then we had already been there for over an hour and a half). They did take my meal off the bill and offered us free cookies, which we took (and turns out there were super mushy and cold and not tasty at all, like they were just unfrozen). Overall, I was not pleased and do not plan on going back to Louise’s again.

I’ve been to Louise’s twice, once about 7 years ago and once this past weekend. I gave it four stars because it’s one of the few places in the downtown area that is still reasonably priced, has good options for younger diners (meaning the entire menu isn’t fancy stuff with crazy ingredients), with decent service and a relaxed atmosphere. That said, on the minus side, the decor is getting a little tired and the lighting at night is a little dim for my taste. Our server was attentive, friendly, and helpful and the food was a good value for the price. I would highly recommend for families on a budget with younger kids who like the basics. For a couple out for a date, there are probably better options but then again my first visit was with my wife on our anniversary and we remembered enjoying the place so that’s what brought us back this time.

I loved my dinner at Louise’s! The food was great, the atmosphere was wonderful, and the service was top notch! Our waiter was extremely friendly and personable, as well as quicky and efficient. Also, the location is unbeatable, especially in the winter with all of the Christmas lights in Cathedral Square! I would highly recommend this place.

I had the steak salad. Salad was good. The steak was not quality plus a small serving. The bearded ones congragating at the bar, who manage/run the place ignore the customers and were boisterous with each other making more like a sports bar than a fine dining experience. I’ve gone there for years and the restaurant used to have some class. Not anymore, at this time. Appears to be inexperienced management and staff. Enough said.

My boyfriend and I went there for the first time last night and we will definitely be back. Everything was great. Our server Richard was not only extremely professional, but had perfect timing and laughed at all of my bad jokes. And knew my Parks and Recreation reference. We don’t go to nice restaurants often but next time we do we will be going to Louise’s. Our food was absolutely amazing and I’ve never had better asparagus in my life. Seriously…BEST ASPARAGUS EVER. I got the chicken marsala (Which is one of my favorite dish’s and have eaten it A LOT) and that was the best chicken marsala I’ve ever had. We started with the fried ravioli because WHAT?! FRIED ravioli? It was good and came out very quickly. Overall, definitely deserving of a 5 star review. I’ve never written a review for a restaurant before, but we felt very strongly about Louise’s and wanted to let them know how much we appreciated your service, atmosphere and food. 5 stars for Louise’s AND 5 stars for Richard! STAY COOL RICHARD, WE”LL BE BACK!

This comment applies to recent catered/large order experience. The pizzas (8) were average. However the salad that accompanied the pizzas had small black bugs in it. The salad cost is way too high and the quality has gone way down. You can do better Louise’s. The cooking/packing staff needs to care what is going out the door.

Nice and quiet at the time (Saturday night, 10pm-ish) Food was seasoned well. Bread was delish! And service was good. The reason why I gave it 3 stars is because I ordered the asparagus and mushroom ravioli and there were shards of hard asparagus that was impossible to chew in most of my ravioli. I ended up picking through what I ate there and figured it was just a few. Ate my left overs at home and it was the same.
