This hidden gem is definitely worth visiting. While parking may be a bit tight, but you’ll fit in.
Not a big restaurant, but the ambience was nice and cozy.
Service was great and friendly.
Our appetizer came out in 5 and main course in 10. Everything was delicious.
We had the Beef carpaccio appetizer. Had a nice vinegarette taste to it and had some crunch bits to it. Was yummy and enough for 2.
Both our Pho had lots of meat and noodles, which makes a big difference.
Washrooms were clean and well maintained.
Overall a great experience, would definitely come back and try other things.
The mango passionfruit spritz was the absolute highlight, so refreshing and tasty!
We ordered the Bo Tai Chanh (10/10), Frog legs (8/10-very buttery and tender meat but a bit greasy for us), Chicken sticky rice (8.5/10 – the chicken is seasoned perfectly and super juicy and tender but the sticky rice can be a bit heavy for people that are not used to it), le colonial rolls (7.5/10-good but not too special), wok vermicelli (8.5/10 – very tender and flavorful beef), coconut iced coffee (10/10 – love it)
Mango Salad with Shrimp (5/5) – the grilled shrimp was perfectly cooked
Beef Carpaccio (5/5) – the Vietnamese sauce on this one works so well
Le Colonial Rolls (5/5) – the fresh veggies inside gaves a good crunch and bite feel on the roll
Special Pho (3/5) – not a fan of this one, it lacks the deep umami taste of a pho, there’s better pho options around the city if you’re just looking for pho.
My only drawback was the very uncomfortable couches are not cut out for sitting forward and eating at a table. I see some people had pillows, I did not.
I recommend reservations.
Seated immediately, the place is buzzing with so many people and conversations but not stupid loud. The waitress who seated us took the time to explain pretty well the whole menu to us as my wife indicated it was our first time there.
We ordered summer rolls with peanut sauce (with shrimp) and soup, for an appetizer. They were delicious. I had veggie wok noodles and wife had bbq short ribs with rice. Mine 5 star. I would definitely get again. Wife’s 4 star. The flavor was definitely good. But they take 4 ribs, slice thru the bone sideways about 2-3mm thick. It’s marinated then probably pan fried, maybe broiled. The flavor was good for sure, but the meat was really stuck to the bone, so it was hands on dig in with your teeth to tear off the small amount of meat there. And then it was more chewy and tough- she’d prefer fall off the bone buttery. Would likely not order again. Plenty of food to take home for lunch the next day. By the way, we were going for East Indian food because there’s always plenty to take home for tomorrow.
No drinks for us other than water. With tip we’re out the door under $80. Great reviews online we found out later. Very well deserved! We will definitely go back there.
