On our way home from the airport and looked for something good to eat. El Rey had a 4.7, so I had to try it out. Made it before 5pm, which was within their happy hour of 2-5. Got margaritas at $2.99 and some queso at half price. Both were really good. I ordered the camarones ajillo, and my husband had the burrito with carne asada. He got his meal a couple of minutes before me and gave me a bit. I’m telling you the best seasoned steak I’ve had at a Mexican restaurant around here. The grilled shrimp i had was really good but could have used a bit more seasoning but still amazing. I think what I really enjoyed was the chips and salsa as they gave you a trio of salsa, which i feel is good for those who have different tastes. All 3 were good, but the hot could have been a bit hotter for me. The service was great, and he answered all of the questions and made suggestions. Definitely will be back.

Was visiting some family and came across this place. Food was exceptional and the young woman waitress was super friendly and welcoming. Will return upon further visits.

The service was great and we tipped accordingly. You got a generous amount of food. The problem was it has no flavor I don’t even think they put seasoning on it. The meat was cut into little worm size pieces the place was packed so people must like it. It was extremely noisy. The pictures look fantastic. It was just lacking flavor.

Eaten here many times! The sopes are the best around. Pork is tender and flavorful. Delicious micheladas. While the beans flacor is on point, they are quite liquidy mixed with whole beans. Not my favorite consistency. Just ordered to go for the first time and I find myself wishing they left it under the heat lamps. They package it in a foil container so I can’t microwave it at work.

Got the cochinita plate , tasted way too salty and too much like cinnamon to enjoy it. My husband got the Al pastor chicken and it lacked flavor and tasted bland. My brother got the carnitas and it was literally only deep fried pork with no flavor or seasonings. Portions were too small for the pricing. This is a ‘bougie’ Mexican restaurant for white people who don’t know AUTHENTIC Mexican food. If you’re Mexican and know the authenticity of food, you WONT like this place. Won’t be coming back to overpriced puppy portions.

We first tried El Rey back in Nov 2023 which was shortly after they opened and we’ve been coming ever since… sometimes twice a week. Raul and Gabriel always take great care of us. Our kids love it – super family friendly! Also, street taco Tuesday is a favorite of ours! Go give them a try!

The best Mexican restaurant in NWA! I love bringing people here. It is delicious EVERY single time. The portions are generous and the atmosphere is great. My husband and I will always choose this place first to come eat Mexican.

Hope this review doesn’t come across as a personal attack or too directed at ownership (not my intention). However I feel obligated to share my point of view after a dinning experience so appalling. Admittedly I have a soft spot in my heart for “Mexican” food catered to the local populace that is somewhat akin to “Texmex”. However I should have obeyed the warning in my heart when I saw a Mexican restaurant menu including fries and pizza. Whoever leaves the response to comments from customers on reviews, please share with the owner that under its current trajectory, I would be surprised if this restaurant makes it 18 months. Any local mom of Hispanic heritage could produce a product 10x what you have messily managed to muster with this restaurant. Please revamp back of house standards and produce a menu and flavor profiles at least somewhat proper. PS. Clean your keg lines.
