I came across Royal Pizza while visiting a friend and crazing something simple. There are a few pizza options in the area, but something drew me into wanting to give them a try.
I ordered through the Slice app for convenience and got 3 items.
My order was made correctly to order.
The first item I chose was a small meat lovers pizza w/ extra cheese. This was made perfectly. The pizza was flavorful and filling. It even kept it’s flavor after upon reheating it for leftovers, which shows using more quality ingredients.
My second item was a plain cheesesteak with american cheese. This did not stand out too much and left me desiring more out of it. It could’ve used more meat and cheese, but I know that there is an extra meat option through the app that I didn’t choose.
Lastly, I got the cheese fries with whiz. This is a classic and exactly what I was looking for.
This is a go to over all the other local shops when I’m in the area.

The older couple who run and operate this spot are incredibly kind people, but what makes this place truly special is that the food is of high quality and there are a wide breadth of options from stoner classics like legendary philly mega fries to spaghetti to cheesesteaks to grinders, prices are incredibly reasonable. I love this place, feel like it is becoming the victim of a less trafficked portion of baltimore ave, which is a shame. People that live around clark park consider makes this your spot, it’s worth the walk. highly recommend the ham (or capicola if they have it) grinder, one of the best i’ve had in the city.

Visiting relatives in Philly and wanted to try a cheesesteak. Royal’s is delicious. What really stood out to me was the pizza though. Sauce was unlike anything else I’ve had. It was the most excellent balance of sweet and spicy. Not sure I’ll find a sauce that tops this!!

Ordered twice this week from Royal. First was a meatball calzone that kept me happily fed for Three Days! Delicious, hearty, great ratio of dough to filling. Second was a mushroom and Swiss cheeseburger platter. Also yummy. I especially enjoyed the good humor and welcoming vibe of Maria and Constantine, the cook-owners. Wonderful to have a new local and reasonably priced takeout spot. I’m looking forward to trying their Greek items next 🙂

My brother and I stopped in there a few weeks ago looking for a new spot to try out and when we took a bite of that plain cheese we looked at each other like “bro…” and have remained loyal customers ever since. The food is at a great price compared to other places and filling. Their care with the food is also great! The look of the place could be a touch better but it’s also the look that lets you know you’re getting great pizza at great prices! I’ll always be coming back when I have an extra 20 lying around for some food.

Reviews on here is wrong maybe the pizza .
Because I buy a wing and fries ,the wing was big as my arm and fries taste old .
The cheese streak the bread was dry and streak don’t even have ketchup on it .
Don’t order on slice because your food will take 1 hours .

I ordered the upside down pizza while in town for a class. The pizza was delicious. The sauce flavor is very unique and tasty with a sweetness that goes really well with the blend of cheeses. It was so good I almost ate the whole pizza by myself. I’m so glad I tried Royal!

Royal Pizza is an institution in western University City. While they do have a bench to sit at and eat, this is a take out/delivery place. The food is delicious and with really good portions. Mega Fries are the best cheese fries in the city. Cheese steak is good, full with soft bread. A small is enough for a normal person and the large is HUGE! The meat strombolis are also good.
