Went on a Friday for lunch. The place is clean, aesthetically pleasing and the decor is very modern & cute. Bartender/waitress was professional & kind. Service was fast. We ordered the jerk honey turkey wings with mac & cheese and yams & the fried whiting with mac & cheese and fries. Cornbread with strawberry butter was brought out for the table while we waited for the food. The food was delicious, large portions and presented nicely. This is definitely a place I will be visiting again and again and again. Next, I want to check out their brunch on Sundays. Good job yall!

Been a customer since the old location. Love their food and always amazing customer service! My go-to is the Leg and Thigh Platter with the cinnamon candied yams and mac!

I had went there on a whim and was very pleased. The food was very good. My drinks was good. I had the turkey wings greens, and mac & cheese. The turkey wings were very tender season well the chef came out and apologize. We’re taking a little longer to cook, but as I told him take your time, do it right and I was satisfied I would recommend you supporting this establishment. The service was on one point. My drinks were delicious and I plan to go back.

First time customer and Food was not great I ordered wing platter with Mac and greens, chicken grease was old and chicken taste burnt, Mac and cheese was awful way to much cheese and it wasn’t even melted or seasoned. The greens were also unseasoned. Hostess was pleasant.

The food was good but it took so long to finally come. The service was incredibly slow. It took over an hour and half to get two plates of food. I dont understand why because there were only two tables taken when we arrived. Would’ve probably been faster just doing take out. They seem understaffed. There was only one guy taking orders at all the tables and one lady cleaning tables.

I’ve had a variety of menu items and ALL have been delicious. My personal favorite is the salmon with garlic butter, cabbage and mac & cheese. It is a comforting atmosphere with a soulful environment!

I visited Plate of Soul by Aunt Vonda on the day of the soft opening. The place is beautifully decorated. My daughter had the salmon stuffed with crab meat, string beans and yams. I had the lamb chops, string beans and Mac and cheese. The food was absolutely delicious. Both were cooked to perfection. We also enjoyed the Dj and the drinks were reasonably prices. This is a family owned establishment so for me it’s nice to see them all
(Grand-baby included) taking part in making her business a success. I will definitely be returning!!

C’mon Auntie Vonda, y’all gotta tighten up if you want us to continue supporting your business!! Times are hard out here, and people don’t really have money to waste on “undesirable” anything, much less food! Treat your customers like you would want to be treated if you were spending YOUR HARD-EARNED MONEY!! Be professional and give the people who patronize your business an experience that they’ll want to repeat! ♂️ I used to pull up frequently at the old spot, and I noticed how the quality of the food was “falling off”. Recently, I pulled up at the new spot (in the Chesmar shopping center), noticed that the two tables full of patrons hadn’t yet gotten their food. Remembering past experiences,…I just bounced, cause I knew it would be a loooooong wait!! ♂️ Tightened up, Aunt Vonda!!

I ordered the stuffed salmon, which came out completely cold — like refrigerator cold. The macaroni and cheese had no seasoning aside from the garnish, although the yams were actually pretty good. When I asked for a to-go container, I was given a paper box. I asked for a bowl instead, but was told that the paper box is what they “have to give,” even though takeout orders apparently come in bowls.
I also got the spicy fish, but there was no spice in sight. On top of that, the fish had bones in it, and it wasn’t even served as an actual sandwich — just fried fish placed on top of two pieces of cornbread.
When we first came in, no one greeted us and we had to stand at the entrance until someone finally acknowledged us. To top it off, there was a baby in the kitchen area, which was very unprofessional and concerning.
Overall, the food and service did not meet expectations. Definitely not worth the price or the experience.
