Laid Back and Relaxing at the Kumback Lunch, Good Food!

This is a laid back little diner where you would go to have a cup of coffee and a piece of pie or a cinnamon roll and waste the morning discussing the weather or local politics. We gave it a try for lunch. We had a chicken fried steak and a hamburger. At first you think things are going to be a little slow, but they kick the food out fairly fast. The chicken fry was a pan fried, chicken fried steak with a generous portion of French fries and a homemade dinner roll. It was good. Same with the hamburger. We sat in the booth closest to the kitchen and the hamburger was still sizzling when they sat it on the table!

It truly is a little laid back cafe in Perry OK close to I-35. According to a news article on the wall, the place has had the same name and the same location for over 40 years (the oldest of such in OK). If you like good, down home cooking this is a place you should try.

Definitely not a place for “Everyone”!

Welcoming? Hardly. This place screams ‘1950s segregation vibes
1.Waited for menus like we were in a staring contest… and lost.
2. Servers everywhere, but at our table
3.Apparently we weren’t on the VIP list.

This is my third time trying with the new owners and it’s just never been what I was expecting each time. Today, I got one cup of soup to go. The beef soup is extremely greasy, full of potatoe skins and it was $7 for a small cup with barely any beef or veggies, outside of the skins. If it had been served with bread or toast, it might’ve made up for the crazy amount of broth for $7. I gave a 3 because the lady was extremely nice. It was the food and price that I had issues with.

Honestly one of the best burgers and fry’s i have ever eaten. Me and co workers eat there almost every day now. Great food all of it. And amazing cinnamon rolls that are massive!

Excellent food and friendly service is a historic location on the square.
While nothing fancy, the food is happily handmade and exactly what you would want and expect from a living piece of Americana in small town Oklahoma.
Their daily specials are a great value and the burgers do NOT disappoint.

My wife and I stopped in there today and found it to be a throwback restaurant to the days we love most. It was like stepping back in time The staff was great and the food was excellent. I got the double layer hamburger the American with French fries and it was all I could do to finish it it’s quite the meal. If you are in Perry or just passing by on I-35 it is worth a stopover to have lunch or breakfast.

We finally had a chance to go to this cozy restaurant and learned the interesting history of this throwback cafe and enjoy some outstanding food. This is food for the common person made special with fantastic ingredients and long tested recipes. I got a burger and fries and couldn’t finish.

Absolutely a hidden gem! Idk how this place has only 4.4 stars the wait staff works their butt off (it wasn’t perfect but it was good). The food was delicious and to notch for the price especially. Highly recommend this place.

Man this place is tip top. The gravy alone is worth a trip. I had the chicken fried steak with b&g and it was delicious. In fact I drove back from Stillwater for no other reason than to eat there again. Great place and worth the drive.
