I would give zero stars if I could. This place is unbelievably slow — we’ve been waiting over an hour just for fufu and egusi! No updates, no apologies, nothing. It’s ridiculous to make customers sit this long for a basic meal. Completely unprofessional and disappointing. I’ll never come back here again. The man at the front also wasn’t welcoming at all and looks like he hates his life and his job. If you’re hungry, don’t come here — unless you plan on starving for an hour first. Apparently, fufu and egusi take longer to make than a five-course meal! No communication, no urgency, just vibes. Save your time and your sanity. Mind you we came here all the way from Yorktown just to try their food.

My sons and I tried this place for his school project. He had to try a different country’s food and he chose Africa. We found ES African Kitchen on google. The lady there is so nice and attentive. She showed us how to eat the fufu and egusi and she washed our hands before doing so. She even provided smaller plates so that we could try each other’s food. I’m unsure of what it should taste like so I cannot really say if it was good, bland, etc. I will say it was worth trying something new and I will recommend it to anyone wanting to try African dishes.

The prices did not match up menu says $20-$24 after she rung me up she explained that my meals were $32 a piece which I found kinda awkward because I had just read differently on the menu the food was good but I will not be returning thanks tho God bless you ❤️

The place smells disgusting. I was very disappointed when I was waiting for my food, because the smell was wasn’t good in there. We were trying to order food from the menu, and her son just kept saying they didn’t have it! After while we agreed on 2 options. We wanted to see a picture of the food first, but the son said that they couldn’t offer that for us. While waiting for the food, all you can hear is the microwave. This isn’t a good look, because this means that we are getting food that was already prepared. What was the point of having a restaurant if you aren’t going to make the food there. When the food finally came out, it was not hot, the fufu was disgusting. It didn’t even feel or taste like real African fufu. When I saw the soup that they brought, I noticed that one of the items in the soup, I was highly allergic to. When I made that comment, the owner started to get loud and be rude. She told me to eat my partner’s food because there was nothing that she could do about it. I highly recommend that you travel to another place if you want real African food. This place is horrible. The smell blows my mind because it should smell good being that she only warms up the food in the microwave. It’s crazy to
me that if the food isn’t to your liking or if you can’t eat it, that you cannot get a refund. Real africans do not do this. She is only here to make money. She doesn’t even care about making the customers happy. Her or her son are not welcoming when you enter the restaurant. FYI if you don’t serve certain items, please take them off the menu because that is false advertisement. This place should really get shut down. It smells like a meat market that sells expired meat.

I love that the atmosphere felt very peaceful. The owners are very welcoming.

Helped assist me since it was my first time there. I love the idea that I can wash my hands and eat fufu how it should be eaten.

The fufu alone was so good and the Egusi. The lamb (if I could recall) was so flavorful. It’s firm and has a nice chew with the texture of the Egusi. I asked to have the Egusi spicy, it was spicy, so be sure to let them know mild. But it was still very very good. I got to taste the Egusi before I got the collateral kick.

I got the jollof with fish for my partner. I really like the portion. The ginger mango drink was great. Strong ginger and a subtle mango to back it up. It tastes so healthy and not so sweet.

I recently had the pleasure of trying African cuisine for the first time at a restaurant, and it was an exceptional experience. The service stood out as the best I’ve encountered, with the owners being incredibly welcoming. The food was not only visually appealing but also incredibly delicious. The serene atmosphere added to the overall enjoyment of the evening. I highly recommend this restaurant for a delightful dining experience.

If you want delicious authentic African food this is your spot! We ordered the Jollof Rice with curry goat & light soup. Couldn’t wait to get home to eat, so we started eating the Jollof rice and curry goat in the car. The jollof rice is moist and flavorful and the goat meat is lean and tender. It was so good, we called the restaurant to inquire about catering our upcoming event and she graciously accepted. Can’t wait to get home to try our light soup. If you want delicious and authentic African food and great customer service, this is the spot.

Im very disappointed in yall. Why would you give a customer gari instead of banku and okro stew? You have to pay attention to what you offer to your customers when they purchase meals. Again it’s the little things yall do that makes you keep your customers.. offer pepper if they ask.. if they don’t ask politely please don’t give to them or put it inside there meals. Y’all do better and you can maintain your customers.. yall please pay attention to what they are giving to you, exactly if you order a take out meal. Thanks
