It doesnt look like much from the road and we stopped by on a Wednesday which has a limited menu but the Turkey Bacon Sandwich was delicious. The place itself was really cool too!

Right off a busy highway, you can find this little gem. With no expectations at all, my wife wanted to try this place. The brisket is the best meat on the menu, no sauce needed at all. If your brisket is this good, it’s a money printer. This brisket can hold itself with the best of them. The cabbage is a new twist to vegetables with BBQ, which turned out to be one of my favorite things of the meal. I’d give this place an 8.3. If you are around LBK, try and make time for this little gem.

I’ve heard so many great things about this place about it being one of the best BBQ places around and just me being really honest I wasn’t that impressed but my boyfriend enjoyed his food but he wish it wasn’t as much fat on the meat. The beans were to salty but the macaroni and cheese was great. Don’t go off the menu price that’s online tho. Customer service was top-notch and great atmosphere.

I finally made it out to the Lubbock area and got to meet Isaac and Ashley Arellano, the incredible couple who run Pitforks and Smokerings BBQ in Slaton. Holy cow I was blown away by both their kindness and hospitality as well as their incredible food! I was in heaven with every delicious bite of smoked meat and each side. They really took great care of me – well beyond what I could have dreamed of. I got to try the moist and lean brisket – fabulous bark, great flavor and perfectly-rendered fat – everything you could hope for in brisket. The pork spareribs were immaculate. The brisket burnt ends were absolutely ridiculous! And the icing on the cake was the pile of fajitas! OMG they were otherworldly! The sides that I got to try were equally stunning. I could have eaten the brisket mac-n-cheese all day long. The potato salad was exceptional. And the fried cabbage blew my mind. Everything about the experience was next-level. I sooooo wish that Slaton was a little closer to Houston so I could just pop over and enjoy their incredible food and amazing hospitality all the time. Next time I’m gonna get there on a Friday so I can enjoy their pork steaks, Or maybe Saturday – burger day! If you find yourself anywhere near Lubbock, you have got to go see Isaac and Ashley. They will take fantastic care of you. And tell ’em Dave sent you.

What an experience! Get there right at 11 if you don’t want to wait in line, but it’s definitely worth the wait! Perfectly smoked brisket, moist and tender beef rib and the best turkey within 300 miles! Even the pork ribs stand out as excellent – and the sausage is meaty with a perfect snap when you bite in to it.

Just a great little BBQ stop. Homemade tortillas are a neat little twist on traditional BBQ fare. Fried cabbage may be an homage to Slaton’s German roots? The brisket was great and even better wrapped, sauceless, in the aforementioned tortillas. Hoping to make it a regular stop when we pass through!

This by far one of the best bbq places I’ve been to. All this time living so close to such great bbq. Can’t wait to go back and try more items. Loved sitting outside watching a thunderstorm roll in it was a perfect atmosphere.

My friend who goes every weekend because she loves it so much brought me here and I was pleasantly surprised! I got the ribs and sausage with two sides, mac n chees and fried cabbage. I wasn’t a huge fan of the mac n cheese being filled with brisket too but I think that’s just my personal preference. The fried cabbage was yummy and crunchy without being overly slimy, it was also full of bacon and flavor. I paid $22 for my two meat two sides plate and went home with leftovers. My friend got the SMALL frito pie and look at the size of that in the picture! Definitely worth the trip. This place embodies what people mean when they talk about the amazing bbq places in Texas that are just little hole in the walls off of a highway.
Also, I forgot to mention the AMAZING staff. I felt so welcome and they were very attentive and friendly. Loved it!

SO good. Wednesdays they don’t have a full menu (only sandwiches), so will definitely have to come back on a different day to try more delicious food. Staff were incredibly friendly and family oriented.

Great family owned BBQ joint situated in a family owned renovated auto shop. Staff was super friendly and attentive. Featured in Texas Monthly as the Future of BBQ in this area. Had the 2 meat plate with brisket and turkey. Sides were beans and potato salad. Wife had brisket Mac and cheese for her side. Everything was excellent and I will make this a visit again on my way through. Thanks for keeping family owned restaurants alive.
