Aquarius Perspective
Since my usual go-to spot Chatman’s Chicken is closed on Mondays (and I think they’re still on vacation too), I had to find somewhere else to get my fried chicken fix. That’s how I ended up trying Anthony Fish & Chicken, and honestly it turned out better than expected .
Now this spot is on the east side of San Antonio, which happens to be the area I grew up in. Some people might consider the area a little rough if they’re not familiar with it ⚠️, but in my opinion that’s usually where you find some of the best food in the city .
I called in my order and was quoted about 25 minutes ⏱️. It took a little longer, but that wasn’t a big deal. When I pulled up there were a grip of cars waiting for food , so clearly the place stays busy.
Also good to know: if you don’t call ahead, you order at the window . I accidentally tried going inside at first and they let me know they were serving from the window only. Fair enough.
I ordered the 15-piece lemon pepper chicken which came with fries and two pieces of bread .
We also grabbed steak nachos last minute… and those didn’t even make it home. They got completely demolished in the car . They were loaded with toppings and I’m pretty sure they used Doritos chips, which added extra flavor.
Now back to the chicken…
The legs and thighs were crispy, fresh, and clearly made to order . The seasoning was on point and the portion size was generous. A 15-piece could easily feed a family of 3 or 4, but between the nachos and a couple sides we made at home we actually fed five people comfortably .
The crinkle cut fries were also really good with a nice seasoning on top, and the hot sauce they give with the chicken paired perfectly.
When I pulled up there were a grip of cars waiting , and after trying it I completely understand why.
Compared to my #1 fried chicken spot Chatman’s Chicken, this place honestly holds its own. The chicken here is crispy, fresh, and delicious all the way through .
Another thing I appreciated was the pricing . I’ve seen places around San Antonio charging almost $20 for a simple 3-piece meal, and the food isn’t even that good. Here the portions and value felt much more reasonable.
Anthony’s definitely has something going on and the menu has plenty of combos and options . Next time I’m definitely trying the wings because they looked amazing coming out of the kitchen .
Overall this spot definitely satisfied my fried chicken craving .

Drove in from out of town to try this place I was excited and so was my family. So to say I was upset is an understatement the food was not even a little bit good and I spent $73.04, this place is not what the reviews say. My son ordered chicken strips that were burnt and inedible The chicken gizzards were also burnt to a crisp. I tried to eat it, but it was so hard to cut the roof of my mouth. My daughter ordered barbecue party wings all they did was throw some barbecue on top of them not like on the picture. Also ordered corn nuggets. I’ve never seen these type of corn nuggets. It was like a hush puppy with pieces of corn inside of it. Nasty nasty nasty if you are gonna go there people you need to check your food before you leave and make sure that it is not burnt and it’s edible because we drove a long way to try this restaurant out and it was a total waste of time not gonna drive all the way back to get my money back for food that I couldn’t eat. I just won’t spend any money over there anymore And also the atmosphere is scary. I stopped next-door in the gas station and there’s people walking around with guns with babies in their arms like it doesn’t make any sense. Be careful if you do decide to go over there.

this is 100% my favorite restaurant in the san antonio area. when i used to doordash i would pick up food from here all the time and the smell by itself is what convinced me to order from here and i am so happy i did. my go to is chicken wings and fries, philly cheestake, and some mozzarella sticks it’s soo good sometimes it takes a long time to get your food but if you call and place the order ahead of time it’ll be quick.

My first visit to this place. It next to a gas station. No indoor seating. Ordered at the window and food is served to your car. I ordered the 3 piece catfish and the portions are big. The catfish was freshly made and it was hot and delicious. Generious portions of french fries included. It was a very good meal.

If you want some tasty wings & crispy fries, Anthony’s is the spot. The seasoning was just right, the wings were tender & not under or overcooked. The fries were surprisingly fresh. I would go as far as arguing that the fries were as good as the wings. Overall, if you are craving some quality wings..try this place out, you won’t regret it.

Not sure if it was because they were busy that they weren’t paying attention to cook times, but all of my chicken was severly overcooked and very dry. The first time I visited, the food was perfectly seasoned and cooked, but this food was nearly inedible.

Would definently come back to, the chicken tenders and fries I ordered were already delicious to warrant coming back to the place, and the lunch deal they have gives even more value to the food. The worker there was also very chill, letting me order the lunch deal even when I came 30 minutes too early. Will definently consider becoming a regular here.

The 5 Pcs tenders was juicy, crispy, fresh and seasoned with some of the best seasoning I’ve had on chicken. so be sue to ask for more seasoning . We did order hushpuppies as well for the side. theyre more of a soft crunch like bite and the rest will dissolve in your mouth.
