My dad and I stopped by and we are glad we did. Steaks were cooked perfectly and the sides were delicious.
Update, I just tried the porksteak and it was great. Homemade yeast rolls too. Consistently puts out fresh, flavorful food.

We hadn’t ordered in a long time so we decided to use their online ordering menu. It’s a nice feature but they have no online payment processor and I had to go to the bank to withdraw cash to pay in person. Also, there was a lot of confusion about the order and the lady who took it didn’t listen very well. All told, it was a great food, I have to say and they are generous with the pork meat, etc. but one odd thing is that the owner calls you to see if you’re coming to get your food if you are even 10 minutes later than you said. Like someone is going to forget their lunch? LOL!

Service was terrible. It took three different times to receive the right plate. The second time I received it, my fish was half covered in baked beans(I didn’t even order baked beans) and they tried to give it to me anyway. I sent the plate back and they came back with the right order, but the baked beans had just been wiped off of the fish. It was extremely obvious. Order was wrong on half our table.. Couldn’t get a refill on drinks at all. We had finally paid and were leaving and someone caught us at the door and said a plate hadn’t been paid for in our party. Then said that they had paid for a plate, but it was for a 3 piece fish instead of 2. So they overcharged and wanted us to pay for a 2 piece fish on top of that. I paid just so we could leave. I figured the waitress was upset she didn’t get a big tip due to her service and wanted to make sure she got one. Do not recommend.

The BBQ was not great. Not a lot of smoke on the sandwich, no seasoning flavor, and it was not very tender. If you want better BBQ got to Greens. The burgers here are also pretty patty frozen meat so very low quality.

I’m here from out of town and tried hickory bbq. I ordered to go over the phone. My food was amazing. I ordered brisket, baked potato and okra. If you don’t try them you are missing out. Brisket was the most tender I have ever had and the smoke was perfect. I am so full I cannot finish but will save for lunch tomorrow. Price was reasonable. Go here and get fat and sassy y’all. Thank you for the good food.

It is a bit rough around the edges but the food was good. The fries were crispy and not greasy. People were nice. Prices were good. And you get a generous amount of BBQ meat with a wonderful smoked flavor.

Surprisingly good food, being fairly new to the Pocahontas Arkansas area I am just trying out different restaurants and I was pleasantly surprised with the Catfish plate and the BBQ Salad. The server was informative on the menu and very nice checking on us often.

Overall: average BBQ at a good price!
Details: Portions were very generous. Large pulled pork was a good amount of food. Fried okra was pretty standard and very good. Not overly breaded. Potato salad was decent. A little heavy on the mustard. Cole slaw very good! Really plain but in a good way with good flavor. BBQ sauce was pretty sweet without any heat but still good on the pork. Toasted buns were a nice touch. Crispy but not burnt. The baked beans were really mediocre. Overly vinegar taste and seemed to be canned.

They have a nice menu variety with very fair prices for the type of cuisine – catfish and barbecue. The wait staff is not only very friendly but also very efficient. They have a nice, clean dining area with a small town cafe feel. The food is cooked to order with very reasonable wait times and comes out fresh. It is common of BBQ places to serve meat that is dry or overcooked, but at Hickory Bar BQ, that is simply not so.

I had previously worked there, & they were awesome back then. And even after leaving the company, I eat there I’d say, at least once, sometimes twice a week on my lunch breaks. So fast. So delicious. So comfortable. GREAT BBQ, & EVEN GREATER SERVICE! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK GUYS.
