Island Queens Restaurant is absolutely amazing! The curry goat was so delicious—rich, tender, and full of authentic flavor. You can truly taste the love and care put into the food.

The owner is incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely kind, which made the whole experience even better. Great food paired with exceptional customer service is hard to beat.

Highly recommend this place if you’re craving authentic Caribbean food and a welcoming atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back!

Just left there and had the best goat curry outside of Guyana and maybe inside. I asked for some cut up pepper and ginger to be added and it gave a good kick. Really good portions, the corn bread AMAZING!! Seriously impressed. They have happy hour daily (menu attached). Wish we had this rest in Winnipeg.

Great food. Highly recommend the oxtail poutine. Jerk chicken and cornbread very good. They have a great happy hour menu from 4-7 with good prices. Margarita and Long Island Ice Tea made just perfect for $6 during that time. Jerk chicken for $5(on sign outside). Service excellent even got to meet the chef. This place is a must try.

Wow, we showed up during happy hour and the prices were very reasonable. Not disappointed in the least. We are coming back for date nights ASAP! Although my partner mentioned he can’t eat the jerk chicken in public again due to the heat and consequences of sweating. But so delicious!! Highly, highly recommend!!

I had the $5 jerk chicken special. You can get the deal if you purchase a drink, so all together was $11 after tax and tip. It was a great value for home cooking, and the service was lovely. I went in to pickup and Shiloh helped me, she was super friendly and my order came out very quickly. I’ll definitely return:) Thanks Island Queens

Wooooww! Literally the best meal ever. Honestly said “wowowow that was good” 6x after finishing.
Ordered take out – the service at pick up was so genuine and pleasant. Definitely coming back for dine-in, the vibes are awesome.
Now for the food,
Jerk chicken – tender, falling off the bone – flavourful – spice level was 8/10 (order the extra coleslaw to cool off if needed haha)
The festival was perfectly golden and crisp on the outside, soft and fluffy inside with just the right hint of sweetness to balance the smoky jerk spice.
Oxtail gravy was literally out of this world, I would drink it if I could.
10000000% recommend this spot if you’re looking for genuine people, delicious food and rich traditional Caribbean flavours that taste like they’re made with pride! Thank you!!

It was my first time visiting Island Queens, and I was really hoping for a better experience. One thing I can say is that the décor and ambiance were beautiful — the space itself was very inviting and nicely put together.
Unfortunately, the service and food did not meet my expectations. I felt like the spices overpowered the flavors of the dishes, which made it hard to truly enjoy the meal. I was also hoping for more of an authentic island taste and hospitality, but that wasn’t the experience I received.
Additionally, the service could have been a bit more bubbly and welcoming. A warmer, more engaging approach would have made a big difference. Overall, while the atmosphere was lovely, the food and service left room for improvement.

One of the best happy hours in the city!! ️ We ordered the jerk chicken and the oxtail poutine and they were both amazing, definitely recommend I also got the Yes, Empress cocktail which was so good (if you like gin, you’ll like this). Our server Jane was so kind and personable, and the overall vibes are top tier! The place itself has a very sleek and chic look with some island touches✨ I will be coming back for patio season ☀️

HOT!! couldn’t recommend this place enough and will be back. the happy hour is what brought us in, with such reasonable prices. however, my friends and i will surely be back at any time !

Drove over an hour from Toronto to Hamilton, this past weekend, to try Island Queens, and it was well worth the trip, especially being of Jamaican descent. While Toronto has its fair share of Jamaican restaurants, they tend to be takeout spots, so it was refreshing to enjoy an authentic Jamaican dine-in experience.

From the moment we walked in, the ambiance stood out — modern yet homey, not overwhelming. It wasn’t busy when we arrived, but we were early for their evening service. We were warmly greeted by Michael, and soon after, Chef Marjorie and her daughter Amanda came out to welcome us personally, setting the tone for a wonderful dining experience.

We started with the plantain nachos with chicken, festival and complimentary cornbread and ordered a variety of main dishes, including fried chicken with rice and peas, Rasta pasta with shrimp, pineapple fried rice with chicken, and wings with fries. Each dish surprised us with authentic, bold flavors that transported us to Kingston, Jamaica. The execution was perfect, capturing the essence of Jamaican cuisine while adding a unique touch.

The prices were reasonable, considering it wasn’t just takeout — it was an entire dining experience. Plus, being able to enjoy Red Stripe beer was like a taste of home. We finished our meal with their apple crumble, the perfect end to an incredible meal.

Overall, Island Queens is a 10/10. We’ll definitely make the journey to dine here again, and I’m excited to see where this family-owned business goes. Wishing them continued success as they grow and flourish!
