I went there for an early breakfast and had a great experience. The food was top notch. Really amazing pancakes. It was like being at Grandma’s house. The staff was very friendly and it’s locally owned and family ran which I absolutely love. Go support the small town, restaurants, delicious food, warm environments and great people. I highly recommend them for breakfast. I have not had anything else but highly recommend them for breakfast. A place is really easy to find. There was plenty of parking and plenty of people to have conversation with if That’s what you’re into. At the same time you can sit in the corner and keep yourself completely quiet.

Smells weird…like it used to be a daycare my friends rubbery definitely not a ribeye steak was supposed to be rare best thing was the walmart steak sauce she smotheredit in.
Bonus points because they only had the same cheap powder packet creamer that the hotel had and who doesn’t love that!

A very nice mom and pop place. Food was fresh and delicious. Cost wise was more than reasonable for a family of 4 $50. Facility was nice and clean as well. Definitely had that small hometown feel.

The food was great! The best breakfast I’ve had in awhile. The service was lacking. One lady doing everything, taking orders, waiting on tables, running the register, etc. for the whole restaurant, she needed some help. The decor was sparse and bland. They seem to stay busy.

Very positive experience. Excellent breakfast food with great fast customer service. Biscuits were flaky and buttery much better than most I have. Hot cakes were good to eat without any syrup even. French toast was delicious with some butter cinnamon powder sugar, sausage, gravy, eggs , bacon, and waffles all good.

We went for breakfast and I ask for coffee with flavored creamer they said no but the waitress was so nice she said she will find something. She did French vanilla so she was wonderful. The breakfast was good. They mite want to add a little more decorations on the walls and doll it up but it was good I would go back. Maybe put some donuts or muffins out under a glass cake plate so people mite have coffee and a roll.

Country fried steak with mushroom gravy?
No! It ended up being a chuckwagon patty with unguessable vomit looking something on top. So much salt that it’s impossible to eat, even if you can get passed the vomit on top!

My hubby and I (and two sweet little pups) stopped in Metropolis whilst en route to Florida. We stayed in the nastiest super 8, and needed a hearty breakfast. We decided to eat at Rubes and my were we impressed! First of all, it’s the only in the city with no Superman references. Clearly a favorite to locals, there was excellent service, quick delish food and a nice ambiance. Highly recommend for all passing through!

Great home-cooking, without having to cook! Call ahead to ask what their specials are. I like their fried chicken, okra, thunder & lightning salad. Some day I’ll make it in for their popular breakfast which starts at 5:30am, but it must be great, because they’re crowded early in the morning!
