I haven’t eaten such a wholesome and heartwarming meal at a restaurant in a while. My meal was delicious! I got the beef rendang and ikan balado (fish). It was affordable and flavorful, especially the beef rendang and coconut rice. It was tender and juicy. The service was quick and friendly as well.

DO NOT LISTEN TO ANY OF THE REVIEWS THAT ARE LESS THAN FIVE STARS. this has become my new favorite place in philly. this family owned restaurant has everything you could need and more. my favorites on the menu are N11, N7/8, R23, and the fried rice dishes. the servers are so lovely and the food feels like it’s giving me a warm hug. would recommend to anyone who’s in philly <3

First Indo restaurant I tried in Philly. Idk I just feel like it is not as good as the ones in NYC lol, but I’d come back if I want Indo food. For the rice, the beef rendang is well seasoned and not spicy. I like the combination with the deep fried potato sticks (I think), which adds a nice texture. The noodles is not that well-seasoned imo. The pork slices are too sweet, and the soup is too bland. The noodles for mi go reng is more like lo mein. It has chinese sausage, shrimp, and not a lot of veggie. The curry noodle soup is very coconut-y and a little spicy. I don’t like the rice noodle that is used. The toppings have fried tofu, fish ball, tofu skin, potatoes, not really any ‘meat’. Chicken satay is tender but too much sauce.

First time I have Indonesian food in restaurant .I give it a try . I don’t know what to order so the lady there recommended a few dish . So I choose the curry noodles . With fish ball , boil egg . Fish skin and dice potatoes. Comes with little bean sprouts. The soup like Masala types .
Honestly. The egg is not fresh . But I ate it . Becaue you can tell the outside egg white was wrinkly Z meaning they keep in a very cold or frozen somewhere in the fridge.
Other fried fish balls and tofu skin are taste like old oil .and only few dice of potatoes, that not even costs ,
It’s feel like home cooking meal to me not fancy . I paid $16 plus , tips , total $20 for small amount and low quality noodle soup .

The service is friendly & attentive, the food is masterfully prepared, and the prices are shockingly affordable.

In a city that offers a seemingly endless variety of delicious food, Sky Cafe stands out as one of the very best my husband and I had the pleasure to try so far. Our recent meal here was the first introduction we’ve had to Indonesian food. Having read the reviews in advance, I was expecting it to be good — but I wasn’t expecting to fall so deeply and immediately in love with this cozy neighborhood gem. The fried chicken was crisp & juicy, the coconut rice was buttery with a satisfying texture, the sauce & marinade on each of the eggs was unique & satisfying, the pickles were crisp & refreshing, and the vegetable curry was a stand-out knocked-out-of-the-park home run. The fact that I didn’t know exactly what I was eating most of the time didn’t lessen my enjoyment of it in the least, and I really just could go on endlessly about how much I loved this meal.

100% would recommend Sky to anyone. I am so looking forward to returning for another amazing meal, and for the opportunity to introduce friends and family to a new (to us) cuisine!

Update: I returned and tried takeout this time. The food travels well — it was just as delicious as on my last visit. Points for consistency! Plus, the portions seem to be the same as they serve to those dining in. Very very happy I found this place.

Update update: Been back 2 more times, and haven’t had a bad (or even mediocre) dish yet! I’ll continue working my way through the menu and posting more pictures.

I have visited Sky Cafe twice. This hidden gem is well worth a visit. Very good Indonesian food with amazing flavor and a lovely use of peanut. For starters, we tried the Batagor and Gado, Gado. Both very delicious. For the main, I had the Kari Bihun, both times. If you love a warm, spicy soup with great flavor and tons of fish, I would highly recommend.
