It is right next to our favorite Korean bbq “blue house”, which is closed for remodeling.
We decided to try this new buffet for lunch.
Our first impression was of the inside of the restaurant which was clean and stylish with modern decor. The second was the price. We were shocked at the price. Normally, the price we are used to us over 20.00 for the Chinese buffets in South Sacramento and Elk Grove. The price was very reasonable less the 17.00 including drinks. The third impression was the amount of different foods available for lunch. Of course a number of Chinese foods, including teriyaki chicken, kung po chicken, steamed bok choy, broccoli chicken, chow mein, assorted shell fish, shrimp dishes, and other dishes for children including pizza. Soups including and hot and sour and sinigang seafood soup. A sushi bar. In addition there is a hibachi/Mongolian bbq bar, where you can select your own ingredients and the cook will prepare it for you fresh.
A salad and dessert bar is offered with fruits, Jell-O and ice cream.
A drink fountain area is offered where you can personally select different types of soda and ice tea.
For dinner, they offered dungenous crab cooked in Chinese spices and sauces, as well as BBQ ribs and baked oysters.
In all a very decent food selection for a great price. We will visit again, but we can’t wait for Blue House Korean BBQ to reopen.
The place is dirty — stained chairs, dirty floors, and tables that clearly aren’t being cleaned properly. It feels neglected and poorly run.
For the price, this is unacceptable. Management seriously needs to step up. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Overall for the price I thought it was a good place to get my grub on!
I thought the flavors of most of the food was good I thought some not as much. I got there around 30 mins after they opened and some of the dishes were at a good temperature while others I thought was too cold but maybe the warmers weren’t up to temp yet.
One thing I did notice is that before done with the first plate I was already feeling fuller than I thought I should be and feeling slightly uncomfortable. My only thought to that was that there must be MSG in some of the food I ate. While MSG will enhance the flavor of the food making you want to eat more of it it also makes you satisfied faster and you will eat less food than you would have. But if you are like me and have bowel inflammation the MSG can actually cause your stomach bloating and can cause stomach pains as is what happened to me for the next 5 hours following eating there.
I had gotten another plate of food thinking I could get through it but the pain got to be enough to stop eating.
Overall for the price it’s a good place to be able to have a verity of different foods to eat. I think they should add signs to the foods they add MSG to so that ones who has issues dealing with MSG can avoid those, at least to have those options last or if at all. Would I go back again? I’d like to but I’d also like to know which food has the MSG in it so I can at least avoid those till last and maybe only having a tiny amount of it so I don’t feel so bad again.
The sushi wasn’t a selling point, I didn’t spot many raw options, and it was missing sushi vinegar.
For dessert, they offer traditional Chinese buffet cakes and Blue Ribbon ice cream.
Overall, I think it’s a solid spot for the price. Not amazing but there are lots of options and it is clean. They’re still ironing out some details as they get into full swing
The selection is not phenomenal and just the same as any other place like it.
It’s a new spot so everybody wants to try it.
I came on a sunday at twelve thirty for lunch the food was fresh. It did look good, but just didn’t have any flavor and nothing stands out about this restaurant to separate it from any other chinese buffet in town.
The price with a drink for 1 adult was $27.29
