We were passing through town around lunchtime on Sunday and decided to stop by Chef Cassy’s Kitchen for a bite to eat. Our son and I consider ourselves “experts” when it comes to fried catfish and other reviews have stated how delicious the fried catfish was. It was a no brainer and we both ordered the 3 piece basket. I had the baked mac and cheese and our son had the fries. Our server was very kind and prompt.

Our fish was fried to order and was served hot and fresh. The breading had a perfect crunch, seasoned well and the fish was cooked perfectly. Everything you’d want in a fried catfish filet. As we travel, we make it a point to try local spots to see just how good their fried catfish sits on our list. After trying close to 300 different restaurants, Cassy’s makes our infamous “Top 10” best fried catfish list.

Fries were hot, fresh and seasoned too. Now for that mac and cheese… It was off the charts and well worth the extra $1 upgrade. I could have eaten an entire pan! We were also offered free desserts and opted for pecan pie and banana pudding to go. Both were excellent!

What sets this restaurant apart from others? What makes it so special? The food is prepared with LOVE! Chef Cassy is cooking with love and passion. It’s obvious with every bite! We can’t wait to stop by again. Hopefully on a Friday evening and try the all you can eat catfish next time.

We had such a great experience at Chef Cassy’s. The food was absolutely amazing!!

Our party of 9 had cheeseburgers, brisket potato, brisket and fries, fried catfish, ribs, and brisket and mac and cheese.

Chef Cassy came out and talked to us like we were old friends!! We enjoyed our conversations with her. I would highly recommend going to her restaurant if you are anywhere near Mabank/Gun Barrel City/Eustace.

We stopped by Chef Cassy’s Kitchen in Eustace and were blown away! I got the catfish—perfectly seasoned and crispy—and my husband had the chopped brisket with onion rings that were out of this world. We started with her famous fried collard greens (the ones featured at the State Fair!), and let me tell you, we never liked our Mama’s greens, but we would have if she’d made them like this!

Our waitress was exceptional! She was friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel right at home. The 90s country music playing in the background was the perfect touch for a small-town Texas meal. Everything tasted homemade and made with love. We’ll definitely be back!

Chef Cassy hand delivered our meal and is one of the sweetest individuals you’ll ever meet! We started with her TX Fair famously fried collard greens. Followed by some brisket Mac & Cheese, a fish basket, house salad, chop brisket, green beens, and a chicken tender kids meal to boot!
Everything was delicious but the best part was meeting and getting to know Chef Cassy on a deeper level.

Chef Cassy’s restaurant is pure magic!

After watching my family have the time of their lives at a private event here, I knew I had to experience it for myself—and wow, it was worth every mile. I flew in all the way from Spain just to taste what I’d been dreaming about, and let me tell you: the food is even better than it looks online (and that’s saying something!).

I had the catfish, brisket, green beans, fried greens, and strawberry shortcake. Every single bite was to die for. You can taste the soul, the history, and the love in every dish.

But what truly sets this place apart is Cassy herself. She’s one of the kindest, most genuine people you’ll ever meet. Her story is powerful, her spirit is radiant, and her restaurant is a living tribute to her family. You don’t just eat here—you feel something. You’re part of something.

Chef Cassy, you are a light and you shine so bright. I’ll be back in December!!! Thank you for feeding both my stomach and my soul.

Cozy little place run by Chef Cassy who’s a very sweet lady with a great story. The food is amazing…a true discovery each time we try something new! Love those spicy BBQ wings on “Wing Wednesdays”!
Still working our way through all the menu items but have loved everything we’ve ordered so far. The BBQ is amazing and every bit as good as Terry Black’s BBQ!!
It’s worth the drive to Eustace…you won’t be sorry!!!

We really enjoyed the food here. We came for the catfish and it was excellent. Cooked to perfection with generous portions. The wait staff was nice and we even got to see Cassy herself. We tried the fried brussel sprouts and loved them too. No complaints. We were too full for dessert, but we’ll try that at our next trip there. And there will be another trip there! It was fabulous southern food worth the drive to Eustace. 5 stars

In search of fried catfish, we stopped in Chef Cassy’s on our way home from Purtis Creek State Park. The service was amazing! Our server and Chef Cassy herself continually checked on us and truly offered amazing Texas hospitality. We tried the appetizer sampler with the fried collard greens, alligator poppers and brussels sprouts. Then we ordered the fried catfish and the loaded baked potato with crawfish! Everything was tasty! The mac and cheese is a CAN’T MISS side. So. Good. We ended our meal with piping hot and doughy beignets and got a really tasty cinnamon roll to-go! Highly recommend visiting this cute, homey and welcoming restaurant!

Ya’ll HAVE to try Chef Cassy’s Kitchen in Eustace! It is absolutely AMAZING! They have a large variety of items on their menu and everything we have tried is truly beyond yummy! The Gumbo, Brisket, Smoked Bologna, Catfish, Fried Pickles & Banana Pudding are just a few things we personally love! All the food is made fresh to order, so it may take a little extra time to come out but it is worth the wait!! Cassy, the owner and her staff are always so friendly, this place is genuinely one of a kind!! Let’s support them and get the word out to all of our family and friends!

The food here is out of this world! I had the catfish and it was Phenomenal! Flaky and delicious, as well as the fries and hush puppies! My wife also had the ribs that were falling right off the bone and full of robust flavor! I will most definitely be back. Whether you live close or a good drive away, I assure you it is much well worth the travel.
