We drove up early to Grass Valley on a Sunday, for the day to visit friends. After a great day at Empire Mine State Park and a few fun estate sales, we went to Chandara for lunch.
We were all greeted warmly and seated at a great table by the window. Our friends who eat there often said the food was amazing, IT IS!
We ordered and shared the fried shrimp appetizer, Tom Kha soup, salmon curry, and the Ginger Roots with tofu. Every dish was divine, fresh ingredients, full flavors, hot (temp), ample portions for three hungry adults and some leftover.
Without question, some of the best Thai food we have ever had, anywhere! I would drive up to Grass Valley (from Berkeley) again, just to eat at Chandara. Honestly cannot stop thinking about the Ginger Roots with tofu . Cannot wait to go back!
I ordered the wonton stuff with chicken, no chicken in them. I ordered duck curry and duck noodle soup. Both of the broths had at least a quarter inch of oil on top of the soup itself. I don’t know what kind of stock they’re using horrifying also ordered eggplant with basil no basil at bell pepper also eggplant was overloaded with oil. I tried to eat a little bit that much oil hurt my stomach very bad food
