I haven’t dined at Shima Restaurant as a customer, but I recently had a very negative experience with their owner Ricky as a local plumbing contractor. They called my company on a Saturday to urgently fix their broken water heater, as they had no hot water. We responded quickly, diagnosed the issue on-site. The service call fee was a reasonable $199 for weekend emergency service.
However, after the work was completed, the owner/manager refused to pay the invoice, falsely claiming they had canceled the appointment (which they did not— we have records of the confirmed call-out). Unfortunately, this means the restaurant is still operating without proper hot water. From what I observed, they’re currently washing dishes and utensils with only lukewarm water, which raises serious concerns about sanitation and food safety in a food service establishment.
Restaurants are required by health codes to have adequately hot water for proper dishwashing and hygiene to prevent bacterial contamination. I strongly advise potential customers to be cautious and perhaps check recent health inspection reports before dining here. Disappointing lack of integrity from the management—small businesses should support each other, not stiff hardworking tradespeople.

We came here for my niece birthday. They set the 5 of us on our own hibachi table. Our chef was awesome. 4 of us ordered the filet mignon and 1 ordered the NY strip and shrimp. We also ordered the rainbow roll and spicy tuna roll. Everything we had from the salad to the perfectly cooked steaks and to the rice was so awesome. You won’t be disappointed

By far one of the best and most family friend hamachi restaurants I’ve been to. They made my little brothere birthday unforgettable and a true experience. From the great food , the laughter all the way down to the whole restaurant singing him happy birthday.

If you like teppan style this place is great without some of the obnoxiousness of other similar places.
My only complaint is the ginger dipping sauce. It is a bit sweet for me.

Delightful experience and delicious foods. The staff cooks in front of you in an entertaining manner and delivers fresh, savory foods that will satisfy your palette. Intimate setting so if bringing a crowd best to make a reservation. We tried a variety of appetizers as well as entrees. We were a party of 13 and all were pleased with their choices.

It’s a cozy hibachi style restaurant. It wasn’t busy at all when we went for dinner so we got attended to right away. Definitely feels like a more casual hibachi restaurant than others. Interior was a bit left to be desired but the food was good. Staff and cook were nice.

Visited Shima Huntington Beach for the first time.
The restaurant was clean and the staff very attentive.
Unfortunately, the main dishes missed a kick on flavor.

Great food Shima & Filet steak, scallops, shrimp, fried rice, and veggies were yummy but $$$ Shima is as expensive as Benihana. Four of us had dinner and our bill was over $200; that was for 4 entrees, 1 beer, 2 sodas and a water and one shrimp tempura roll.. Also, there was not much of a show beyond the steaming onion and one line of fire . For the price, I was disappointed.
