This was a neat place to grab a bite to eat. It serves light breakfast items, lunch, and dinner. It has a full bar as well. After you are seated, you have to go to the register to place your order. There is coffee at the entrance when you enter. Service was pleasant, and the food came out quickly. It is a little pricy for lunch. For 2 people, we paid $82 for a specialty burger, shrimp and grits, devil eggs, and non-alcoholic drinks.

When you walk into Daily Pressed, you’re handed a menu and instructed to seat yourself, review, then order and pay at the counter. Normally, I don’t write reviews before getting my food—but this place raised so many red flags, they felt more like flickering sirens.

First thing I noticed…FOX News playing on the TV over the bar. My instinct was to leave, but I took a deep breath and gave it a chance.

I ordered the brioche French toast, a baked potato with scrambled eggs and cheddar cheese, and green tea. My husband ordered a medium-well steak with scrambled eggs and potatoes.

While waiting, something told me to read the reviews. I did. DP has a 4.1-star rating on Google. Many reviewers complained about unexplained house and convenience fees, long waits, order errors, inattentive service, and—at times—rudeness. I read a few reviews aloud and asked my husband to check his receipt. Sure enough, we were charged both the convenience and house fees—even though he paid with cash.

He got up immediately and asked to speak with a manager. She couldn’t explain the house fee and said the convenience fee was supposed to be for credit cards. My husband responded, “But I paid in cash. And if you don’t know what the house fee is, I’d like to be reimbursed for both.” Thankfully, we were.

Soon after, my tea arrived—already steeping in a to-go cup. I quickly removed the bag, hoping the tea wouldn’t be too strong. I don’t care for high-caffeine brews.

Then we waited. And waited.

Our food finally arrived—40 minutes later. My baked potato was covered in bacon. I let the man who delivered it know that I don’t eat pork and hadn’t ordered bacon. He said, “Okay. I’ll redo it, but it’s going to take a while.” I glanced around the nearly empty restaurant. There were only eight diners: a woman at the bar, a loud group of five women, and us.

Anyway, the brioche French toast was the highlight—light, delicious, and perfectly paired with strawberries, whipped cream, and syrup. My husband picked at his overcooked steak and underwhelming potatoes but finished his eggs.

About 10 minutes later, my replacement potato arrived—lukewarm, with lukewarm scrambled eggs. I picked at it. And, as we walked out, I turned to my husband and said, “I’m still hungry.” He replied, “never again.”

We came in here one cold evening to warm up a bit. We ordered drinks and had hopes for a nice bowl of chili. There was no chili but we did get drinks. We ordered a quesadilla and a salad. Everything was yummy. The kids had fun picking a game from the shelf. We had a very lovely visit. Great customer service and wonderful atmosphere.

I had a really bad experience. I went in with my mom, ordered steak and eggs. It wasn’t busy, maybe 11:30 am. I ordered my steak medium, it came out well done (zero pink) and tasted exactly like how overcooked steak does, no flavor. The scrambled eggs were gross. All clumped together, stale tasting, just as if they were prepared hours earlier and held in a pan. I asked a staff person to replace my steak, and he said it’s going to come out the same way because the steaks are too thin to cook properly. . The lady running the bar overheard the conversation and promptly replaced the steak. Also, my mom got a latte and they put it in a to-go cup even though mugs were visible. . The lady was also very cold towards me on my way out, ignoring my goodbye and thank you.

Just don’t go here. Save your money, go somewhere fresh. Be served with kindness. I can only assume the staff is being underpaid to care this little about their work.

We were walking past after an event in lock 3 and the bartender came outside to ask if we wanted to come look at the drink menu after seeing us trying to look it up on our phones. He was very welcoming and I didn’t feel pressured to come inside at all. I had a special mixed drink request that was made perfectly. It’s within walking distance to my apartment and I’ll definitely be back soon.

Zero stars is what’s deserved here. I’m writing this review for my husband and MIL because they were too upset to even speak at length about their experience. I’ll try to keep it short. Husband took MIL for bday brunch. They said staff was rude from the start. They were told to find tables and after going to three dirty tables they found one. The restaurant wasn’t busy. There were only four other people at two tables, so there’s no reason for the poor service or food quality. Husband’s French toast was burnt, didn’t have anything on it and looked like toasted bread with barely a whisper of powder. Oh, there was a fly in his food, as well. The waiter said that’s how the French toast comes, but photos in reviews prove otherwise. MIL ordered tortellini with no customizations. It lists mushrooms on the menu. She didn’t get mushrooms. When she asked for some she was flippantly told that people ask for them to be taken out so the chef didn’t bother. The rude waiter complained about being asked for mushrooms and eventually brought a tiny bowl of uncooked mushrooms that wasn’t even worth the trouble. And the tortellini looked like scrambled eggs. MIL ordered a drink that was supposed to have grenadine in it. There wasn’t. She asked for it to be added to her drink and after a back and forth about it the waiter plopped a bottle of grenadine on the table and walked away.

My husband asked for a refund (minus the tip) for the horrible food they couldn’t eat and the waiter said “This isn’t Applebees”. We don’t eat Applebees but I imagine it would’ve been better than what they were served. MIL approached the waiter to talk about their service and before she could say a word he started waving a hand in her face saying “Byeeeee” repeatedly. Yes, they felt that the issue was with their race the whole time. MIL has a recording of the end of the interaction where they were told “Bye”. She was recording the restaurant and the waiter kept waving and saying to get him on video too. MIL and husband are kind and respectful people. My husband is a vet with ptsd and It took a lot to avoid an episode at the disgusting behavior they encountered.
