We are a small family own Mexican restaurant. We try to be authentic as can be of course this is not your typical Mexican food it’s more Tex-Mex. Even though we try to make everything fresh there are a couple of things we don’t hand make. We might be a small restaurant in a small town but we do get packed. We offer the best service we can. Sadly we can’t always stay to our word on random busy days or especially on Sundays from 11:30am – 1:30 pm. We promise we will do our best. God bless y’all! Now, who’s hungry?

This is one of our favorite spots in Colorado City. C City is my wife’s home town and we periodically come to visit. Hidalgo serves classic Tex Mex, and they have stuck with a process almost every other restaurant has abandoned: HOT PLATES! They mean it when they say the plate is hot, and when you finish your meal, it will still be hot. This means your food will remain a great temperature to the last bite. It reminds me of my childhood when plates were hot nationwide.

After seeing mixed reviews and surprisingly some hype I decided to try out this place.. unfortunately, my views were relative to the negative ones that have been posted.
The chili con queso is bland.. was basically your generic nacho cheese you’d get in school when you were a kid
The California burrito looked sad and wasn’t much inside the burrito.. had to constantly spit out chunks of gristle, chicken was bland too. I’d give the chips & salsa 2 stars as it was medium and has decent flavor.
Sweet tea was mediocre tasting..
All of this cost $18!
So if you’re a risk taker, I’d say try out the place and see what you think! Not many options around Colorado City anyhow

We was traveling back home and I found Hidalgo Restaurant. Our meals were very satisfying and the taste out of this world. Will definitely be back.

The food was not good. The Carne Guisada was mostly jalapeño and water. The beans were bland. The salsa hot enough to be painful.
It seemed as if the wait staff tried to pretend they couldn’t see us. Our server was nice but he was the one on the register and has no backup.
This is the 3 rd strike I have yet to eat a plate of food there, three or four bites in is all I can take.

Beef tacos and enchiladas with eggs are good but small. Prices are definitely HIGH! The ice cream sopapilla is very good. Don’t order anything fajita chicken or queso it’s very poor quality and you will be disappointed.
Best CCity has to offer for Mexican. Nothing fancy. Decent flavor. Enjoyed the Christian music. They are lucky to have a waiter like Mario. He is excellent.

Fajita plate $30 order just for one had to add a side of rice does not come with it, beans and rice like normal plates would. Does not come with anything besides guacamole and pico, small portions all the way around. Spoke to the manager “mom” wasn’t much help. In fact should I do embarrass me walking out the door holding up my plate in the bag like I wasn’t able to carry it myself.
