Very fortunate to try Kaufman’s Deli today. What a great spot in the 505 Food Hall on Central. Free street parking on the weekends too. Beautiful vibe. Friendly, prompt, and attentive service. Owner present and checking all areas frequently and also interfacing with customers/personally asking tables how their food is. We ordered to go but there is plenty of comfortable seating to eat there. I got the meatloaf sandwich which was hot and tasty with good texture. It can be ordered with cheddar or swiss. My husband got the ruben. It can be ordered with pastrami or corned beef. He also got it with additional meat. He said the bread, sauce and kraut were tasty. He also said the meat could have been more tender and moist; overall, he liked it. Kaufman’s impressed today and has an exciting future ahead 🙂

I was thrilled when this place opened. I’m a big fan of Kaufman’s bagels. I ordered the Meatloaf Melt, and it was decent. However, some of their sandwiches don’t include cheese, and you have to pay extra for it. They should also offer a variety of chips instead of just one flavor. As someone who rarely eats chips, I would appreciate a discount for not getting a side, like Flying Star offers a $1.50 discount for not getting a side.
I also tried the French Toast, which was good, but I didn’t receive any plasticware with my order. Additionally, I got fresh-squeezed orange juice, but it was only 10 ounces, which was a bit of a rip-off. It cost $6, and I could have gotten a bigger, fresh-squeezed orange juice for less or the same price at other places.
Regarding the bagels, they only offer three kinds, which is a shame. They should have a wider variety. As for the price, $3.50 for a bagel with or without schmear is a bit high. Java Joe’s sells a variety of Kaufman’s bagels for $2.15, which is a better deal.

I was super excited when I first heard about this restaurant but after trying it, I would not come back. I went in wanting to like it but my expectations weren’t met. I got an plain bagel with smear and unfortunately it was eh. The bagel seemed homemade but it just wasnt good. Texture was weird, maybe it was old. You’d be better off getting a bagel from Einsteins. My family got sandwiches and matzo ball soup. They were also disappointed and wouldn’t waste their money getting it again. The soup had no flavor, the broth was practically water and the matzo ball was basic. The sandwiches were ok but there was nothing really special about it. The atmosphere was fine but the place did feel a little unfinished. The area near where you order was cute but the other end farthest from the counter was less decorated and had some things that seemed like they should be in the kitchen or in a storage area. I get they are working in a small space but its still weird when there are things like a kitchenaid mixer and things out where we eat. The staff was kind. Overall, I wouldnt comeback and I wouldn’t recomend it as it was a very below average experience.

I have now been twice for sandwiches (to go) for lunch – I work downtown and usually do grab and go to eat at my desk. The first time I had the Meatloaf Melt and it was YUMMY. I got it with swiss and it had a thin veneer of ketchup on it, very balanced flavors and the meatloaf itself was the real star. Second time I got the Tuna Melt and i loved it even more than the meatloaf! The amount of tuna was generous, the cheese was melty-good and I love me a sour pickle spear for authenticity. Bag of chips came as the side, which was fine. The real star are the sandos, can’t wait to give the pastrami a whirl!

Cool downtown spot that makes you feel, if you let your imagination run, that you are back in the Big Apple. 🙂 As soon as you enter you can tell it is owned by a true New Yorker. The place is covered in classic black-and-white photos of NYC and the owner’s family in Long Island. To the food!: My favorites so far are the Meat Loaf Melt and the Ruben! Plus the Classic Breakfast is a steal at only $8.99. It was very busy Saturday at lunch but that added to the atmosphere. Well done guys!

Wanted to dig this, but sadly humble downtown has gone downhill. Vibe was weird, just one table full of cops, lots of spilled coffee on the floor. Got a biscuit and a drip, staff were super nice and offered to warm up the biscuit. I’ve had better coffee from a gas station. Biscuit was underbaked and totally hollow in the middle. No lox bagels, no tomato bacon and cream cheese, they did have one “breakfast bagel” sandwich on the menu, not what I came in looking for. Good luck burque!

This place has been open under two weeks and I have already been there three times. Twice for breakfast and once just for a black and white cookie. The prices are some of the most reasonable around, especially at The 505 Food Hall where they are located. Kaufman’s is definitely becoming one of my favorite places to eat breakfast. The food is very well prepared and delicious, I can’t wait to try their sandwiches. And the black and white cookie was the best I’ve ever had.

As a New Yorker currently living in NM I was super excited for this restaurant to open. I appreciate all the photos of NYC and the boroughs. Hit right in the nostalgia.

If you get anything here please try the matzo ball soup. It is everything I have been missing and craving, fluffy matzo balls, chicken fat flavor, dill. This soup is perfect, I will be back for it again and again.
