A tiny Devon Avenue storefront is focused on the South Indian state’s meaty Malabar region. But more is coming.

I have eaten here three separate times. Once for dinner, once we got takeout, and then we came in for breakfast.

Every time the food and service has been great. We had the masala dosa, uttapam and idli for breakfast. All of the dishes were freshly made and delicious. I really enjoyed the chutney and sambar that come with the dishes too.

The time we came for dinner we ordered the samudra sadya which is all seafood. It was so good! It comes with many small dishes. Every dish was cooked to perfection.

Definitely recommend trying out their food and would like to go back and try some more of the items in their menu.

Devon finally received a great place for authentic Kerala cuisine! Mintza has been phenomenal with their wonderful dosas which are made on spot and uses fresh ingredients. The servers carry a pleasant and cheerful attitude. The highlight dish here is the fish fry for which they used Pomfret. Truly compels you to lick your fingers. Also don’t forget to try out their traditional Kerala desserts which come as a part of their daily specials. So glad Mintza exists on Devon and I’d love to see them grow.

We had Kerala porotta, beef fry and chicken biriyani, and everything was absolutely delicious. Biriyani portions were super large. The flavors were authentic and captured the taste of kerala. The staff provided amazing customer service, especially Sijin who went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was wonderful. They also have $5 Masala dosa, although we haven’t tried it, I am sure it will be great.

This small unassuming restaurant is serving up big flavors at such an affordable price point. The daal was outstanding: boasting a radiant shade of yellow and bursting with flavors while delivering a nice kick of heat. The dosa struck a good balance between crispy outside and fluffy inside without being greasy at all. However, the interior was slightly dry. The sambar, packed with vegetables, also didn’t hold back on either the flavor or the heat. Both chutneys were solid. The Kerala paratha was delightfully flaky but a bit dry. The chicken curry (half portion) featured tender, juicy bone-in pieces of chicken in a rich sauce, which unfortunately got little heavy over time. Service was warm and friendly. I’m happy to see another Kerala spot and will definitely will be frequenting to try out more of their offerings.

Fish Pollichathu that was served here is probably the best fish I’ve had recently. Incredible flavors, incredible serving size. Strongly recommend it!

Tried Mintza Kerala Restaurant on Devon Street and it was such a great experience! We ordered the spicy masala dosa, uttapam, and masala chai. The dosa was absolutely on point – crisp, flavorful, and very authentic. The sambhar was rich with Indian spices and tasted just like home. The owner/manager was very friendly and welcoming, which added to the experience.

It’s a small, unassuming spot, but they are truly doing food right. Haven’t tried the rest of their menu yet, but I’m already looking forward to coming back and exploring more dishes. Highly recommend if you’re looking for authentic South Indian Kerala flavors in Chicago. Overall 5 stars!

I recently visited Mintza South Indian and Kerala Cuisine, and my experience was okay overall. Some of the food tasted authentic and had good flavor, especially if you enjoy traditional South Indian and Kerala dishes. However, the service was slower than I expected, and the place didn’t feel as clean or welcoming as it could be. Parking was also a hassle since there’s very limited space, which made the visit inconvenient. It’s not a bad place, but there’s definitely room for improvement to make the overall experience better.

We had a great experience at Mintza Kerala Restaurant yesterday The place was clean and well-maintained, and the service was super fast we didn’t have to wait at all. The staff took our order right away and served fresh, hot food quickly. We tried the parotta with chicken curry, masala dosa, and gulab jamun all were delicious and full of flavor. Highly recommend if you’re looking for tasty South Indian halal food in Skokie

A new kerala style food restaurant. Their polyograg curry was great and so was the mutton biryani. They have the cheapest masala dosa at $4.99. Highly recommended

Pretty decent, the proportions of the chutney could be more. If you don’t like your dosas crunchy, let the chef know beforehand. Solid restaurant!
