I came for hibachi since the other hibachi place was closed and I’m not sure what I got. The sauce on the “beef tips” was disgusting. Beef tips aren’t hibachi. The rice was bland. I couldn’t even finish more than 3 bites. Service was good. Sweet tea was good.

They have since renovated and it looks amazing inside. The food has always been delicious from the hibachi to the sushi I would come here every day! I used to not like sushi but since eating it here I love it!

Picked up some items to go.

Spring rolls, edamame and gyoza .

Spring rolls were crispy and the sauce was excellent.

Likewise, the gyoza dumplings were great and included a light sauce that paired well

Edamame was cooked just right, served in the shell.

What a treat!

The food was just bad. My Spicy Girl was not spicy and didn’t even resemble Spicy Tuna in any way. Plus they seemed to wrap the crunch that was supposed to be on the outside on the inside towards the middle as if they were padding it to use less fish. (Shown in one of the photos) Miso soup was the best thing. My green tea was a tea bag in hot water. The Lobster Rangoon was soooo sweet that I couldn’t eat it. I suspect that there could be fans for that. This meal only got two stars for it’s presentation and for my waitstaff.

Tell me why that Godzilla/Dynamite roll from Yamato in Greenville, MS had me feeling like I needed to stand up and give the chef a round of applause. The crunch? Perfect. The flavor? Loud. The sauce? Fighting for its life to stay on the roll because I was tearing it up too fast. It’s one of those rolls that makes you forget your name, your problems, and whatever diet you thought you were on. If you know, you KNOW—Yamato been showing out with this one.

All I really ate was the Sushi.. $13 plate filled with 1 thing that was actually good to me. That teriyaki sauce HORRIBLE! Never seen anything like this before. So disappointed
And I taste the Onion soup(lord I had to stop myself from releasing it back into that little bowl out my mouth) TMI but so serious.

Fast service food came out really fast and when I ordered the prong shrimps I asked for different sauces that can go with it so I got tempi sauce, duck sauce and Ell sauce, the Ell sauce is a thick soy sauce base is what it taste like, the duck sauce it has sorta a sweet and sour taste but has a bland taste too, the tempi sauce is pretty good sauce I would have with it. The oinion sauce is a good grilled onion taste with the chicken stock consistency to it. The rice and chicken I got was teriyaki chicken, make sure to put the rice in the bowl with the chicken to get that teriyaki taste or the chicken has almost a plain taste too it. The spring roll was good with the duck sauce, and the California rolls has a taste like a fresh cut cucumber taste to it, so all in all it is something I would come back and try something different as well on the menu.

Yamato is just DELICIOUS. I have been going there for the hibachi and the sushi for the past 2 years, and it has consistently been spot-on. The servers are attentive and friendly, and the prices are reasonable. I had the shrimp hibachi for the first time the other day, and it was just scrumptious. A slight smoky, grilled flavor to the shrimp made it perfect! The hot onion soup is tasty, and the cold salad with the ginger dressing is addictive. All in all, I’d eat there every night if I could. Thank you for reading this, now go and enjoy!
