So grateful to my friend for introducing me to this spot. They regularly come here for delicious, affordable, and authentic Cantonese food. Recently came to celebrate Lunar New Year and everything we got was absolutely delicious and we all had left overs to enjoy the next day.
We ordered the west lake beef soup, ribs garlic sauce, duck chow mein, beef string bean, and fried sesame seed balls. The soup was light and flavorful, the ribs were juicy and had perfectly crispy skin, the string beans were fresh, the chow mein was not overly greasy, and the sesame balls we’re super hot and tasty. The staff were also super nice and helpful. Will definitely come back.

One the best and friendliest Chinese restaurants we’ve been to. The waitresses were so kind welcoming us in and serving our soups. They genuinely care about their customers and made us feel really comfortable. The food was perfect and designed like family style with sizeable portions. Thank you!

This place is a hidden treasure. Great for take out food but we ate in the restaurant. The person attending us was so caring. The food is delicious and the serving size is a great size(even for my husband which has a big appetite). I tried the general chicken with rice which was amazing but their Beef Chow Fun is really soft and delicious! We will definitely be coming more often. A new favorite!

We were traveling through town and wanted to introduce our son to Chinese food for the first time. Found this on Google, and so glad we decided to stop. Ben was so patient and helpful about making recommendations and then telling us when we’d ordered just the right amount of food for our family. Everything was delicious. We tried dim sum, Mongolian beef, the eggplant (!!), and General chicken, and combo chow mein.

We just moved to Davis and this little gem of a restaurant is in walking distance from our home. We had dinner here last night for the first time, and it’s a definite repeat! We were greeted by the friendly and welcoming staff, and they took our order promptly. Our food came hot and fresh, and the flavors are divine! The hot and sour soup has a perfect balanced blend, the potstickers were very tasty, the chicken chow mein and Mongolian beef a perfect combination, and the fresh and warm sesame balls melted in your mouth.
My grandfather was half Chinese/half Hawaiian and made the best Chinese food, so I have a high bar of expectations with any Chinese restaurant, and Tasty Gourmet is definitely up there. Can’t wait to go back!

The tomato and egg rice plate was so yummy. It tasted really fresh and flavorful. The egg custard bao was so fluffy and had just the right amount of sweetness. I would definitely recommend!

A solid Chinese food choice here in less known part in Davis. Nami sushi is a great place in this plaza as well. But this is one of my go-to’s for quick Asian food.
Prices have gone up, but the food and portions are still solid here. I like the string bean pork, the wonton noodle soup, and they have some great meat dishes. Their sesame and general chicken is amazing.
But what I wanted to review on today was the roast duck which is ONLY available on Fri/Sat/Sun. It is AMAZING. You get a half duck for $25 and it is done to perfection. You can ask for less fat and oil, and they will try to accommodate, but my entire family loved the duck and this is a 5/5, and something I highly recommend if you enjoy roast duck.
Besides that- they do very well with large orders- just make sure to give them a call ahead of time. Usually at lunch and busy, it isn’t too busy so you can get a spot.
The previous owner was the friendly o’ lady from ‘Hometown’ inside the South Davis gas station. She has since retired in left the business to her relatives and friends. Tasty Gourmet survived Covid, so that says something! Be sure to swing by here to support local business, enjoy some good authentic Asian food, and try a roast duck while you are at it!

I’m not sure if she’s the owner, but the lady in the front is so cute and sweet! I would just come here for the hospitality. The food is just a bonus! We ordered the bbq pork buns (not pictured), walnut prawns, eggplant garlic stir fry and sesame chicken a la carte. The eggplant stir fry was especially good & the color was beautiful – they managed to maintain the majority of the purple color.
Please come here and try out their food!!! It’s a little out of the way for the college students, but it’s definitely worth it! Good prices too.
