Going here is always a treat for me. I love the seating, the old pictures, and being able to watch the employees. They actually wash dishes by hand! Make real pies (not boxed). Give you large portions of food. Like the fries are an order for one here, but in another cafe it would be the size of two orders. I always get the same thing. A maid-rite and fries. They do however have other options. When ordering a shake you always end up with extra that won’t fit in the glass and they bring you the stainless steal still cup they make it in. So yummy! Thank you to the employees for your great service, friendly smiles and conversations!

This restaurant is sort of a functioning museum. The Maid Rites are great and the staff is efficient. Portions are generous and prices are very competitive for comparable food. A spoon is provided with your delicious Maid Rites. Unfortunately I could not rate this location higher due to the cleanliness of the restaurant and the condition of the restaurant, although I still recommend stopping by to enjoy the food.

The Cedar Falls, Iowa MAID-RITE is not only rocking out their famous sandwich, they are making made from scratch PIES every day!! I had three slices! Coconut Cream, Fresh Strawberry and for nostalgia Rhubarb! All three were amazing! From the perfect flaky crust to the filling, so tasty! This location has been open for the last 77 years and owned by the same Family for the last 44 years!! Had a wonderful time with the Owner Penne and her staff, but also with My Mom, My Sister and her Family and my Best Friend Drew and his Wife Angela! Miss you all already! My favorite weekly treat…the food is great, but the biggest draw for me is getting to know the other regulars and the staff (Chad, Shannon, and Emily). Such an invaluable ‘third place’ for socializing in Cedar Falls, as an alternative to night time bars. Come say hi and have the Early Bird Special with me before 8am!

You have to give breakfast at Maid-Rite a try! The options are great! I love the breakfast “casserole”! Chad is an awesome cook and owner! Shannon is so helpful, keeps our coffee hot, and works hard! Their outdoor patio is perfect in warm weather. Of course, their lunches (and amazing desserts) are awesome, too!

There aren’t enough places like this left! I had to travel to Iowa every other week for 6 months on business and this was my go to spot for lunch. I tried most of the menu and was never disappointed. I wish there was a Maid-Rite back home. Great owner and fantastic staff I had great food and conversation. I highly recommend this place and save room for dessert!

Good spot for lunch. Service and food were great, wish the indoor seating were open when I visited, the flies around the outdoor seating area must have been very hungry as well 🙂
