Absolutely yummy!! Perfectly cooked fajita chicken, yummy beans (and I don’t eat beans normally), the lady working was very kind and attentive. All around great experience, wish they were located in kaufman!

OK, I have a head scratcher today. We have gone to La Guadalupena on many occasions over the last three years and very much like the food. Very authentic. Today, as we were driving back from Dallas to our lake house, we called 20 minutes ahead, like we always do because we know it takes them that long to prepare their food.
When we got to their location in downtown Mabank there was a note on the drive-through window that said they had moved to another location. So we put that address in the GPS and went backwards towards 175 again on 198. Their new location is about 2 miles from their old location going west which puts them in the boonies.
But the food is worth it so we go west again on 198 and I see that it is a half finish building inside.
One wall is up to give access to the food truck where they’re actually making the food so it was freezing in there. it’s 43 degrees right now and I did not have my jacket because I thought I would be entering a room temp building.
I had struggled a bit to get my order understood when I called because I was taking quesadillas and asking them to make them into breakfast quesadillas with egg and onion and bacon for my husband. That really confused them- matter fact, the first girl had to go get the second girl and hear the order again which II repeated in English in Spanish (because I grew up in Latin America).
When we got home and opened up the to go containers, we were shocked to see that one of them had my husband‘s breakfast quesadilla with bacon and I just had scrambled eggs with onion. Not sure if there was cheese there. The reason we know that it wasn’t somebody else’s orders because we had asked for pico de gallo on the side and certainly I had two sides of pico de gallo in my container .
Confused, I called the restaurant. Each time when I identified myself (because you always leave your name when you call in an order), I got hung up on.
So that leads me to believe that the two teenagers who are manning the place knew the order was wrong and didn’t want to deal with me. I was just confused. I was super respectful since i’ve never had issues there. And I’m respectful anyway.
I wasn’t going drive 20 minutes back certainly but I don’t know that I can ever go back. I still gave food four stars because the food was good but it would’ve been better if it had been what I’ve actually ordered.
When I asked them why they moved out into the boonies they said they were going to be moving back in town in a month or two. That doesn’t surprise me as I’m sure the move past 175 into the west part of 198 is not easily found.
So I ended up paying almost $35 for good food, but not exactly what I ordered.

Carnitas, or any street taco. They are the best. Guacamole is made to order. Love this place.

I typically love little spots, and as a local chef I like to try a lot of new places. When I do, I will order a wide array of menu items, to try various different proteins. I do not however, like raw onions. It’s a personal thing. I just order my food “no onions please” as I did on this day.
I ordered 4 entrees, and a kids meal. Two of the entrees came with onions, but the other two didn’t and the kids meal certainly did not.
I believe it was with malicious intent that my entire order was covered with handfuls of raw onions. I do not know why. I walked in to this poorly lit establishment, approached the young lady at the table, ordered my food and went to my car and waited. I got my order already bagged and tied and brought it home. $67 worth of food. None of it consumed. Smelled great, looked perfect under the mountain of onions. Sorry to have offended the chef, but that’s poor business fella.
