We pass this family restaurant all the time and eventually decided to give it a shot and we were glad we did. The shrimp Aja, cod and branzino were done very nicely. Food is fresh and tasty and server is efficient.
It’s bright and homy inside and we enjoyed our dinner. Five entrees and one appetizer without drink came to about $240 after tax and tip.
Note party of five the 20% gratuity was already included.

We went to Idlewood Grill back in February for Valentine’s Day and I totally forgot to leave a review. The décor feels a bit dated, and I’d say the vibe leans more toward an older crowd. The place was completely packed when we arrived and couples were even waiting in line just to check in. After checking in, we waited about 30 minutes to be seated. It was frustrating for a lot of people, and honestly, it felt like they overbooked.
That said, the Valentine’s special they were running was a good deal the amount of food included definitely made it worth it. The food itself was just average, nothing that stood out too much, but still enjoyable enough. Wine was really good.
What really made the night was toward the end, when the owner came out and chatted with me and my boyfriend. He was super nice, and that interaction was definitely a highlight. I also appreciated the little touch of giving each couple a free rose.

I had been curious about this place ever since I saw an ad for it on facebook. It’s very near where I live but I had never been. When I saw an ad for their Thanksgiving menu I knew I wanted to try it out. This was the first year my family and I didn’t have a home cooked Thanksgiving meal. My mother usually cooks for us but she has been struggling with her health so we all decided to go out for that special day instead. I was so nervous because I was the one who suggested this place and I didn’t know what to expect. We had a reservation for 8 made many weeks ago and I was relieved that our table was ready and waiting for us when we arrived. We all knew we wanted the traditional turkey dinner except for my brother who wanted the steak frites. The food came out quickly and to my great delight everything was delicious. The turkey was some of the best I’ve ever had. My mother still raves about it. To the owners I’d suggest making that a permanent addition to the menu. You’ve got a winner on your hands there. The sides were delicious as well though I will say we all only got, and I’m not exaggerating, a tablespoon of stuffing each. I understand it’s Thanksgiving so maybe they wanted to make sure they had enough for everyone but it would’ve been nice to have more on the plate. We were all stuffed by the end of dinner so no harm done. My brother’s steak frites was also amazing. I had a small bite and the steak melted in my mouth and the sauce was heavenly. Most of my family decided to get dessert. 2 creme brulees, 1 cheesecake, 1 German chocolate cake, and 1 bowl of ice cream. All delicious.
If I had one critique I thought one of the waiters serving us was a little pushy when trying to get us to order appetizers and desserts. But I don’t think anyone noticed but me so no problem.
This place has great food and I can’t wait to return. They made our Thanksgiving really feel like the special day it is.

Came here for Valentine’s Day and the food was so delicious! Service was great and the wine was great! Will definitely be coming back again! Mussels are delicious! I got their chicken piccata w/shrimp. My boyfriend got the fish duo. Food is flavorful, great portion, paired well with our red wine!

I went to Idylwood Grill for the first time and tried their restaurant week brunch menu. The food was phenomenal – every single dish was extremely flavorful and tasty. I think the shrimp was the best I’ve ever had in my life!
This is a modest restaurant that looks like it could use some revamping, however we appreciated the quiet ambiance. The only negative thing we experienced was the service – the server was working alone and seemed to be overwhelmed and unable to provide a sufficient amount of service and professionalism to each table.
Overall, despite the service needing improvement, I’d highly recommend eating here because the food is just that amazing! I’ll definitely return for more.

Every visit to Idylwood Grill & Wine Bar feels like being whisked away to a candle-lit corner in Florence. The ambiance is sultry and elegant—dim lights, soft jazz, the clink of wine glasses—absolutely the kind of place that makes you want to linger over conversation and a perfectly poured glass of red.
Their mussels are divine, swimming in the most aromatic broth, and the beef bourguignon is slow-cooked perfection—rich, tender, and incredibly comforting. Pair it with a bold Italian wine and it’s pure magic.
The staff moves with quiet confidence, always attentive yet never intrusive, and the whole atmosphere has an effortless sophistication that’s hard to find anywhere else. It’s classy, a little bit sultry, and consistently unforgettable. My go-to escape in Falls Church when I want to feel transported, pampered, and perfectly fed.

I had chicken fettuccine and it was right on mark. But I forgot to ask for more parmesan. It was a beautiful intimate dinner with my date. When I’m in town next time I will definitely go back.

Brunch at Idylwood Grill and Wine Bar is a true hidden gem tucked away in Idylwood Plaza! Despite its name, it is a family-friendly with lots of kid-approved options. Brunch is served Saturday and Sunday from 11am-2pm.
We started with warm bread dipped in EVOO—such a comforting treat, while we waited for our meals. My husband chose the Bacon Benedict with home fries and fresh fruit, and I absolutely loved my Flounder Francaise served alongside home fries and sautéed veggies!
Pro tip: Be sure to ask about their drink options—they don’t immediately offer a drink menu, but they’ve got you covered!

Very dated vibe and food wasn’t good. Subpar and equivalent to getting food from an Italian chain. The evening was kicked off with heated dry dinner rolls. The pasta was overcooked and placed cheap grated cheese on top. The worse shrimp scampi we can remember. Will not revisit!
