This spot right here was a true experience…. I got off the plane, went to the hotel and then straight to Acamaya. It was my first time so I did feel very underdressed but it was cool. No one batted an eye I was treated like family. Staff is super cool and inviting. My server was Cole and he is extremely knowledgeable about the menu which really helped because I was not familiar with the nuances of the menu. Now let’s talk food…. It was out of this world.

CAVIAR AND GORDITAS…. Chefs kiss
OCTOPUS I eat a lot of octo this was a home run
AYOCOTE BEANS flavor is complexed simplicity
CHOCHOYOTES Love on a plate, it was my fav
CARNE ASADA Let me move in already cause I’m home

The vibe is nice, music is just as nice as the vibe and the food speaks for itself. If you visit Nola this is a must. And for a spot to have so many accolades and being a newer restaurant the prices are very fair for the quality of food and the quality of service. Give them a try I promise you will not be disappointed.

Acamaya is consistently one of my favorite meals in New Orleans. Always blown away by food and service.

Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Servers and bar staff are happy to guide you through the menu and make suggestions.

Food is layered with love and quality – I feel truly lucky to have such amazing talent in the city.

You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu but the aguachile is a must try and I dream about the fresh pressed tortillas.

Wonderful ownership that supports the New Orleans community – you’ll love supporting this place.

So glad we tried this place! Unique recipes for what we ordinarily know of Mexican cuisine. Some plates like the aguachile verde and the ceviche may be too small to share if there’s more than 2 people in your party but you’ll figure that out. The tuna tostada was quite crunchy if you’re like me and love crunch in your mouth but personally I did not care for the nori in it. I’d swap it for green onions or chives or even crunchy garlic chips . That’s just me. The peanut mole in the sweet potato was an adventurous take on a root that worked for us especially with that bit of a kick in it. The black rice, what a surprise having been introduced to huitlacoche. Nice! The baked flounder in that multilevel flavored tomato-based stew sauce was impressive and brought happiness to our taste buds. We did not quite make it to dessert but the tres leches seemed like we should order it next time. The service was friendly and efficient in this fast paced busy place. Ambience was pleasant and seating was comfortable. To summarize, I highly recommend the flounder, the black rice and the sweet potato above all else. Enjoy!

We had a great time & the food was fabulous. Our waiter gave us great options and we loved them all. However our waiter did make it a point to tell a friend that came to meet us last minute & picked up the check that our tip was sorry! That put a damper on the great meal!

I cannot wait to go back to Acamaya. Without a doubt, it is one of the best restaurants in New Orleans. We started with the Tuna Tostada, and although the portion was surprisingly small, it was easily one of the best dishes I have ever tasted. The flavors were not only unique but also captivating.

The steak with avocado sauce was fine, but the arroz with clams completely stole the show. It was comforting, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. Since the portion sizes are on the smaller side, we decided to order another entrée, and I am glad we did. The octopus was unlike any preparation I had before. It was charred and crunchy on the outside while remaining tender inside, and the spice level complemented it beautifully.

Acamaya is a place I will recommend to anyone who is willing to listen. It is inventive, memorable, and absolutely worth visiting.

Not typical Mexican cuisine, but everything was delicious. The decor is very modern and staff was friendly. Do uber there don’t walk as its off the beaten path. The food is unique and very good, the plates are shareable small plates, but i wouldn’t say the portions were too small it was perfect. Reservations recommended.

Acamaya is a celebration of the Gulf’s seafood. I love sending folks from out of town who think New Orleans only serves gumbo and jambalaya. Easy to order several small bites and a cocktail or enjoy a large meal with a group. Excellent hospitality and a beautiful space to spend time in.
