We finally made it to The Sour & we’re so glad we did! We had a cinnamon roll, a cardamom roll & an almond croissant. Each one was delicious. We also purchased 3 loaves of bread: sourdough, oat porridge & whole grain. My family enjoyed all of them. The taste & quality of everything we tried was very good. We will definitely be back & I think their bread will be a staple in our home! The bakery has a modern vibe & has plenty of seating for you to enjoy your treat right there. They also have some lunch items and coffee drinks. We will have to go back to try their lunch. This is a great addition to Rapid City. Check them out, you won’t be disappointed!

This was my first visit and we got two pastries and the turkey and pesto sandwich. The pastries were very good, I will definitely get those again. The sandwich though, was premade and had been sitting in a fridge for hours. At that price and for all the great things I have heard about this bakery and I was really expecting a great lunch sandwich. I will skip the lunch next time and just go with the pastries. I also want to suggest better chairs. They are not large size friendly, unfortunately.

Was walking by after getting coffee and a pastry at another shop as we were road tripping through town. So glad we popped in. We ended up with a sourdough donut, a ham and Gruyère pastry and a blueberry lemon hand pie. The hand pie was one of the best things we had on our cross country road tripping we regret not getting more deliciousness from here. Don’t hesitate stopping here. You won’t be disappointed.

The breakfast we had Friday morning was delicious, however the service was pretty disappointing. When I got my food, there were no forks left. Instead of bothering the busy counter staff, I decided to ask the young lady who brought my wife’s toasted breakfast instead. Her response “someone else will have to refill the forks, I’m busy with coffee.” Then she walked off, no have a nice day, do you need anything else, nothing. I love the food, but if this is what I can expect for customer service, I won’t be returning.

This spot is buzzing with customers, and is a really nice cafe space. I’m visiting out of town, and my sister recommended this spot. My partner and I got a loaf of sourdough bread and shared a breakfast bun. It was topped with ham and cheese and had a large egg baked inside. It was filling and delicious, and I’d definitely come back to try their other items 🙂

It is difficult to find artisan bread in the Black Hills, but not here at The Sour. They have an awesome selection of breads, pastries, coffee drinks, and breakfast/lunch items. You can go on their website and see photos of some of the delicious items they have. The atmosphere is clean and comfortable with excellent cusomer service. Perfect for small group get togethers and meetings.

This place blew my mind. They know dough, they know pastry. Absolutely phenomenal. We had the cardamom bun, the morning bun, the chicken curry pastie and an espresso with oat milk. The pastries fall apart from freshness. I might consider moving here just for this place!

I stop here at least once a week while running work errands, and it is the highlight of my entire week. Always a treat! The pastries are amazing and I love their coffee. Their savory breakfast options are also excellent. I will definitely be taking loaves of bread home to my family out of state for the Holiday season! I cannot reccomend this place enough.

This is, undoubtedly, the best bakery in Rapid City, and maybe the state. They are a sourdough bakery but their bread is not too sour – it’s the perfect mix of sour, soft, chewy, and crunchy. On top of their breads, their baked goods are unparalleled. I have tasted croissants across the world and would consider myself a lover of pastries. The croissants and “morning buns” (a croissant dough baked in a muffin tin and then tossed in cinnamon and sugar) are world class. For another treat, be sure to grab a cardamom bun (excellent flavor and texture) or their deliciously chewy cinnamon buns with cream cheese frosting.
