Halal Rooster on Dewey Ave, near Carbones, 5 out of 5 stars!
We ordered the Chicken Over Rice, Lamb Over Rice, Baked Wings and Chicken Tenders.
The platters came with a generous amount of meat, rice and salad. Fresh tasting, well seasoned. Can’t wait to try each platter.
The wings are huge! We got them with sauce on the side, but even the dry rub was perfect on it’s own.
Of course, our 9 year old just wanted chicken tenders, but these were so fresh tasting.
We can’t recommend this restaurant enough. Grateful to have all the variety of food coming in and setting up shop in Greece.

We had a wonderful first experience at Halal Rooster. From the start, the owner made us feel welcome and went above and beyond to answer all our questions since it was our first time ordering. His friendliness and attentiveness really stood out. Absolutely delicious food! The chicken over rice was perfectly seasoned and cooked just right. My wife ordered the grilled chicken burger and she loved it. We also tried the seasoned fries, which were crispy and flavorful – the perfect side. Overall, both the service and the food exceeded our expectations. We’ll definitely be coming back!

The food here is amazing. It’s the best chicken over rice you can get, and it’s even better than what you’d get at a food cart in New York City. The chicken has a great marinade on it that makes it come alive. I could eat here every day if I wanted to.

This was our second time here but it won’t be our last. The (presumably) owner was also the cook and he knows what he’s doing. His manner is friendly, patient and down-to-earth as he explains the ingredients, preparation methods and how long it will take. I had the chicken and lamb combo plate and loved every delicious bite. The tender meats were served over bright yellow saffron rice with a small salad to the side, drizzled with a slightly spicy white sauce. For a beverage we had a freshly made mango smoothie, which added to the smooth digestion of the food as well as palate cleansing between bites. Obviously a beloved neighborhood spotv as we noticed several customers stopping by ro pick up their takeout orders. One of the best halal places in Rochester. Dine here, you won’t regret it.

The seating area is pretty big, it’s clean but it was freezing inside. That maybe due to the size of the place.
We ordered the Kebab Paratha Roll and the Chicken Burger with Fries. The service did take a while but that was ok as they had lots of delivery orders.
The owners were helpful and accommodating. They placed the sauce on the side of my Kebab Roll as I was worried about it being too spicy (which it wasn’t).
The Chicken Burger was unique and spiced so nicely. Overall the food was freshly made and tasted delicious.
We will be back to try the other items on the menu….probably when it’s slightly warmer though!

My friend introduced me to Halal Rooster today for lunch. He had the mixed platter, which is a tremendous amount of food for the price. He ordered it the previous time he visited and enjoyed it all. All the meat was tender and nicely seasoned. He also ordered the tornado potato stick. We shared that and devoured it quickly. You don’t even notice it was battered before it was fried. The mixed platter included chopped chicken Tandoor-style, one chicken chapli, two baked wings, and a nice portion of lamb all over saffron rice. It also comes with salad.
I had the lamb over saffron rice with salad. The lamb was tender and nicely seasoned. I loved the saffron rice. Its subtle flavor complemented the lamb beautifully. Delicious.
I also love falafel, so I ordered some for takeout. I’ve had falafel from Aladdins, Cedars Mediterranean, and Mr. Falafel. I enjoyed Hala Rooster’s the most. The filling was sumptuous and moist, and the parsley did not overwhelm the other flavors. I’ll definitely be ordering those again.
The staff was pleasant, friendly, and answered all our questions.
The seating seems limited when you first enter, but they have a side room that can probably accommodate another 20+ people. Their prices are reasonable for the quality and freshness of the food. Highly recommend!
