Blackwoods BBQ was the real deal. We ordered a sampler tray to share and it was so good! The brisket was moist and full of flavor. The pulled pork had a nice smoke flavor and needed no sauce, the smoked shredded chicken also had a great smoke flavor, the sausage was so good. I liked it best with the mustard base sauce. And that blackened half smoked chicken. Wow.
Usually chicken is my least favorite, but this one was so full of flavor and juicy. No sauce needed. For sides we got Mac n cheese (hubby said was good but nothing to write home about), Cole slaw (I really liked the slaw. Especially when eaten with the pulled pork) and onion rings. They had a good flavored batter. I’d like them to have been fried a tad bit longer, but they had a beautiful golden color. They paired well with the Alabama white sauce.
All was so good. We plan to make a trip up north again and try the brisket smash burger. It looked good.
The portions were generous, the presentation was on point, and the staff made the whole visit even better with their friendly service. If you’re looking for a place that combines authentic BBQ flavor with creative flair, Blackwood BBQ is a must-try. I’ll definitely be coming back!
I don’t care if the barbecue flip-flops it always starts at three because in my opinion barbecue is the best food on the planet.
With that being said this certainly was not bad rat however it’s gonna sit right at a three .
Basic BBQ atmosphere , wonderful smells coming from the kitchen and a friendly staff.
Barbecue in recent years has gone through the roof and you can expect to pay those prices here as well . It’s no longer cheap man’s meal but if I’m gonna pay barbecue food prices I really wanna get what I pay for and unfortunately that did not happen.
The brisket while it had a good taste and a decent bark lacked salt and was quite dry.
I ordered the Alabama half white chicken , and from the onset, the look of the plate was promising but this is one of the most disappointing pieces of poultry I’ve ever had.
Incredibly tough and dry I left most of it on the plate after getting tired of fighting with it .
Your typical barbecue side dish was the coleslaw and it was cool and refreshing.
The sauces were tangy however a little over sweet but the overall portions were very respectable .
When I come back no . However if this was the only barbecue joint around I’d be here daily for my love of the smoked stuff.
