Really enjoyed Porters smokehouse, everything from the pulled pork and pulled brisket to the barbecue ribs and their housemade barbecue sauce.Porter’s had just the right amount of smoke and moisture. From the clean and well-kept dining area, to the convenience of a drive-thru. Highly recommend this barbecue restaurant.

Finally had the opportunity to check this place out while dog sitting for my brother and sister in law. This food is AMAZING!!! Excellent flavor in everything I had. The wings were some of the best I’ve ever had. I wouldn’t be surprised if they eventually had to move into a bigger building. We will definitely go back.

First timer. Clerk was so nice! She answered all my questions without hesitation. I got a full rack of ribs, cheesy potatoes w/ham, corn bread, potato salad and coleslaw. Everything was homemade and delicious. Ribs were perfect fall off the bone good. Great sauce. Sides were amazing. Just the right portion sizes. No complaints from me. Highly recommend! Hope to stop by again when I’m in the area.

I love to get the three brisket tacos and I eat two and save the meat from the third to make a potato and brisket hash with eggs the next morning. I drizzle a little BBQ sauce over it and holy moly is that good! I skipped the eggs today.

The atmosphere here is simplicity meets bbq. This place feels like it’s in the middle of nowhere. Inside there’s 6 tables that could be expanded to 8 tables. So it’s a relatively small space. You go up the the counter and order, then they bring it out to you.
I ordered the 4 Meat Combo #2 ($25). This comes with Pulled Pork, 2 Chicken Thighs, 3 Rib bones, a smoked Jalapeno Cheddar Bratwurst, and 2 sides. The Pulled Pork was excellent, it was tender and delicious. The Ribs were outstanding. Some of the best ribs I’ve had and the best thing I had today. The spices on it are perfect as is the char. They are very tender and definitely fall off the bone. The chicken Thighs are tasty and again perfectly spiced, definitely would get again. I wasn’t sure about the bratwurst at first, I liked it, but the more I ate the more I loved it. The 2 sides I got was baked beans and shredded cheesy potatoes with smoked ham. The baked beans were very good, with a surprise heat to them. Nothing burning, just a hello. They also got better the more you ate. The shredded potatoes were $2 extra, but were very good and I do recommend them. I also got an extra side of 3 small cornbreads for $1.50. Very tasty and not dry at all, which is the failure of so many cornbreads. They have cans and 2 liters of pop and bottled water for drinks. The person I was with ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich ($7). It was devoured, so that says something. She also got a side of Coleslaw ($3). It was declared to be very good. Everything was fairly priced and very generous portions. Also the house bbq sauce is very good.
The service you get was good and friendly.
Overall an easy 5 star Review! Would I return? Absolutely! I will be back, and I highly recommend a visit if you like bbq. You’ll be just as surprised as I was that there’s such good bbq in the middle of nowhere.

Brisket was on point. Smokey, juicy, and very tender.
BBQ ribs were fall off the bone delicious.
The Brisket burger was destroyed by my Son.
Nachos were great.
The brisket sandwich with queso cheese was yummy.
Call ahead cause they could run out of your favorites.
I would put this place up against KC, STL, and some TX BBQ.
So yummy

So we were traveling and love to try new or small business spots. Porter’s was exactly what we were looking for. The small restaurant was decorative in an industrial farmhouse vibe. It was a Friday night and we were greeted by 2 teens who took our order. The menu appeared on a large chalkboard behind the counter. One of the teens was standing in front of it making it difficult to see the whole menu. Regardless we ordered a baked potato with brisket and queso and an additional 1lb of brisket plus an armadillo egg. We were eating inside so we sat to wait for our food. The food came out quickly, delivered by another teen. (I should say we paid and included tip on the machine prior to seeting) once the food was delivered, we quickly realized the brisket was not what we expected. It was very dry, almost like a roast, shredded up. For $27/lb to day say we were disappointed would be minimal. There was no flavor and to add insult, it was cold. The baked potato was delicious although, the flavor came from the queso. The armadillo egg, again, delicious but cold. So cold the cheese on the inside was not melted. While visiting, no one asked us or followed up on how the food was. When we were ready to leave we had to approach the counter and ask for take-out containers and still, no one asked us how it was. In summary, the food was cold and lacked flavor unless smothered in queso. I would not recommend the meat although the potato with queso and meat was really good. I would not return for the price we paid and the service. I should clarify, there were 3 employees we saw while there and could hear at least 1 more in the back. During our visit 2 people picked up take out and there was a table of 4 finishing there meal when we arrived. They were not too busy.
After reading other reviews I hate to be the person to leave a poor one but we spent a lot of money to be let down. Tipping prior to service is a huge red flag as well.

This is my new favorite barbecue place in West Michigan. It’s quite a hall for me. About 40 minutes. But it hands down, beats any of the chain barbecues and typically the good barbecue places in the Grand Rapids area do one thing well and everything else is OK. I had smoked chicken thighs and ribs. Both were perfect. I give the ribs a nine out of 10 and I give the chicken thighs a 10 out of 10. As advertise the ribs are “fall off the bone.“ But as a barbecue enthusiast that made me suspicious. Sometimes people boil ribs. I am positive. They don’t boil their ribs. Even though the meat fell off the bone it was still toothsome, and it had a good red barbecue ring. I’m looking forward to trying the other things. Their tacos are incredibly imaginative and if the rest of their meats and shrimp that they use in their tacos as as good as what I ate, this place is a solid five 0. The people that work there are very friendly and articulate. My only knock is, they could be a little more imaginative to bring a bit more of the smokehouse vibe to the interior of the restaurant. But I will say this. It’s worth the drive.

Porter’s catered our wedding and they were AMAZING. Our guests were raving about the food, especially the queso at cocktail hour and the smoked pulled pork and smoked chicken thighs. I also love the smoked Mac n cheese. Theresa and her team are rock stars – they had everything under control from set up to tear down, and packing up leftovers. I didn’t have to worry about a thing. Throughout the planning process she answered all of my (many) questions promptly and made me feel so confident and taken care of. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a catering company with great food, great service, and great value.
This company also cares about the community and giving back, and that really sets them apart.
