We had lunch after church at Ron’s Barn Barbeque and Seafood today. It was the first time we had eaten there. The flounder was especially good. The desserts were nothing special but the vegetables and fried chicken were also good. The service was good.

Place looks cool and the staff was amazing. The food was lackluster. I wouldn’t say anything was bad, but I also wouldn’t say anything was amazing. Except the yams. But that’s because I love yams dinner for 2 adults was $37 before tip. For the price, it should be better.
Also, their only bbq sauce is vinegar. I think they’d be better off leaving some bottles of sweet baby rays and use that for the food served at the buffet.

What happened to Ron’s barn? The waitress was great as she always is, we see her about every time we’re there but tonight was different. The atmosphere was dull, it’s never felt this way. Something new that I’m not even a little bit a fan of is food is now self serve, we had no idea it changed, we noticed they lopped the bottom of the sneeze guard off and eventually figured it out. The best part was digging the utensils out of the food that everyone before me touched, it was kind of gross if I’m being honest. We were so excited when it opened up after Covid, after tonight I think I’ll stay away.

Service was amazing our waitress was very attentive and friendly. The barn itself was very clean and cozy on the inside, I thought it was really cool that they turned some old stalls into rooms with tables. Only downside is the food was mediocre The only thing we really really enjoyed was the yams. Pulled pork was way too vinaigree, I understand it’s North Carolina barbecue but it was too much I couldn’t eat it, the ribs although we’re fall off the bone quality the sauce choice made it unpleasant. Also they do not offer any other barbecue sauce just a vinegar to add to more vinegar.. The meringue on the pies was great but the pies themselves felt like they were from either a box or a can. Fried chicken tasted like it was from a grocery store. Mac and cheese; not the worst but not the best definitely needs more cheese flavor. For two people for the dinner buffet it came to $37. P.S. my husband says everything could be better if they had some sweet baby rays to add to things.

It breaks my heart to do this to a neighborhood country cooking restaurant, but tonight’s meal was a disaster all around. I threw away 30 bucks on a terrible meal. My waitress is great, she’s always great. She knew how crappy tonight’s food was. Everything was fried to the point you could not eat it. Shrimp, chicken, livers, were horrendous. My wife’s ribs were not chewable. Her piece of flounder was delivered ice cold. I didn’t have the heart to tell our waitress. My wife tried to gnaw on a brownie, and had to toss that also. The Boston cream pie was dried out, and without liquid, I would have choked. This is not normal. Whoever was in the kitchen cooking should be fired. The funniest moment of the night was my wife bringing home that piece of flounder. Our cat who eats everything, refused a fish dinner. That says it all.
It’s gonna be a long time before I step inside this place. I feel so sorry for the wait staff.

Sooo yummy ! I had the Two Way combo from the dinner take out menu which consisted of Dark friend chicken, Pork BBQ Ribs and my two sides were Mac n Cheese and Butter potatoes. My tray had my super full first off with plenty left over for only $10. Everything was on point, homemade southern taste .. hit the spot for sure ! My fiancé had the seafood. And we washed it down with their homemade lemonade. Definitely going back ASAP!

Food just was not up to par. Let’s say not good at all. It has changed greatly for the worse since years ago. It’s not worth going back.

Growing up, as a kid, I did not like Ron’s Barn (no idea why!), but we’ve enjoyed going lately on Sundays after church, especially now they have the buffet. Food is always fresh and they have a good variety. The staff, especially our waitress, was super friendly, and I quite like the decor of feeling like you’re truly eating inside a barn.
