Wasn’t a fan of the previous establishments at this location. Dropped by to pickup some takeout to give this new restaurant a try and was pleasantly surprised. There is no food under heat lamps, all the food is cooked fresh to order. Spent about $50 for 3 entrees which could’ve easily fed 6 people. Would return in the future. Note that the ‘small’ size is large, and the ‘medium’ size is actually a party tray.

As a local la mesa resident of course we want our restaurants to shine since la mesa isn’t really known for food but more as a dispensary haven and sketchy spots with questionable characters. Part of the charm of living here. But this place is quality, could fit right in at the more ritzy neighborhoods of SD like La Jolla and Carlsbad.
I came into the restaurant and it was nicely remodeled, clean and smelled soo good. They give you Pupus here…(Like free appetizers) I got some deep fried noodles and some egg drop soup free of charge. Delish! And the Shrimp broccoli was fire. Crunchy, and fresh.
If you’re in the area definitely stop by if you’re craving some Chinese food. They have lunch specials at the time of this review for 12 bucks…everything seen in picture.

Decided to try a new local place. Food was hot and fresh. Got beef chow mein, orange chicken with fried rice, pan fried dumpling, and egg rolls. Everything was delicious and I will definitely be back.

Ordered salt and pepper wings and house chow mein. Both really good! Drove by here the other day and wanted to try it since I noticed it was remodeled & under new ownership (I think). Really glad I did! The inside was very clean and the female employee at the register was really sweet. My husband judges places based on their salt & pepper wings and when he said he’d go back and order them again I knew they must’ve been pretty good. We will definitely be going back to try some other dishes soon!

**Solid low-key Chinese spot serving up some classics in the College/La Mesa area**
Live down the street, so had to give this place a try once they opened up. China Chef 1 recently replaced one of those hot-line type Chinese spots here at the corner of 70th and El Cajon.
The place has all your standard staples from Beef and Broccoli, to Orange Chicken, and Salt and Pepper Wings. Portions are good and price is comparable to Wei Wei’s ($15-20/ plate) down on University. They also offer lunch specials for about $13.
All the food came out fresh and tasted great. No exessive oil, no over-battering, solid servings of protein, and that delicious “wok hei” on all the wok cooked dishes, to include the side order of fried rice.
FullY renovated inside with nice seating. Those familiar with this location over the years would be surprised with how different things look on the inside.
While those familiar with this intersection are well aware of some of the interesting characters this parking lot occasionally attracts, don’t let that deter you from giving this place a try. Living just down the block i can confidently say that’s it looks more sketch than it actually is – order take-out at a minimum if you feel you really have to..support your local mom-and-pops
Adding this to my list of local gems and looking forward to coming back with the family for sit down service.

The location is clean, well-kept, and inviting. The staff is super friendly and are all about service. In the food department, all food feels very fresh. I had their Beef Broccoli and their ingredients tasted fresh. Portion sizes are quite large, as well. A single serving of Beef Broccoli could feed 2 or 3 people. I highly recommend this place. I will be going back to this restaurant whenever I crave Chinese food.

Pulled up and the lady smoking out front turned out to be the same one that served my food. She didn’t wash her hands and grabbed my plastic utensils from the mouth part. Chicken wings tasted old. Had one bite and left the other 3 untouched. Noodles were overcooked and mushy. Also had only one bite. Egg drops soup was good! I was enjoying that until I saw a small bug in it. Ended up leaving 95% of what i paid for. Calk it as a loss. Looks like I’ll have to go further out for Chinese food. I won’t be back.
